I didn't feel like they were totally in love with each other, to the extent we were told they were. I thought the ending was kinda messy but I guess the very end was the HEA they deserved. The scene where Dav's illusion of the show is broken was so dumb. I was rolling my eyes.
This gets 4 stars mostly because it was funny. ...more

I get that Victor is super traumatized and has to pretend to hate everyone to survive. But I wish we the reader got a chance to see him thaw out of that. It's all just "I hate you" until the epilogue where he's just like "having someone I can trust to support me is awesome"
Interesting for me to see Gray like this after listening to Make Me Fall before....more

In fact the more we learn about it, it seems that Tim was coercive and that's something Micah needs to overcome? Never explicitly stated, but that's how I read it. I loved the ways these characters changed each other for the better and settled into a cozy little life together....more

It I did enjoy this, mostly for the interplay among the MCs. I felt like it tried to be really complex but just came off as unnecessarily convoluted. It also had a major pacing issue, it too so long to get going and then the denoument was like 1/4 of the book; the only part with real momentum was the middle and then it just kinda fizzled out?
Despite all that, I would definitely read something else by this author...more

I LOVED: hockey/figure skater dynamic, rich/poor, country/city, that they were both young (unusual for hockey books), that they built such a deep connection so quickly without a romantic element, that they supported each other so authentically, the way the team treated them, the youtuber angle, that they fell in love without sex.
From the blurb, I thought I might find the dynamic aggravating; a gay guy whose comfortable with his sexuality berating the closted, isolated gay guy into being more PC than he's ready for. But that wasn't the case at all. Both of these boys were for sure cinnamon roles....more

The sex scene after they declare their love for each other was SO INTENSE. It wasn't even that hot or that long, but just SO emotional. Spectacular writing.

Mental illness is a pretty common theme in contemporary hurt/comfort, but it was truly the focus of this book, to the point that the romance storyline was secondary.
