I live in the small town of Petrolia, Ontario, Canada and I am a mother to a wonderful teenage boy (didn't think those words could be typed together...surprise) and wife to a truly supportive and understanding husband, who thankfully doesn't think I'm crazy.

I have always had two profound dreams in life. To fall back hundreds of years in time and live in a simpler world, not bogged down by technology and to write novels. Since only one of these was a possibility I decided to make the other come alive on paper.
I write mm romance novels that take place in fantastical medieval type settings and love to use the challenges of the times to give my stories and characters life.

This book is a must read for anyone who's read the Trials of Fear series. However, Heal with You is absolutely NOT a standalone; this is the finale to the series which shows all five couples (plus Krew and Max) living their HEA:

Finnley and Aven are married and expecting a baby (there's a connection here to Arden's story).

Rory and Adrian are going strong. Rory is taking baby steps to overcome his fear of sunlight. He makes the big decision to visit his parents for the first time in seven years, and Adrian is right by his side.

Ireland and Raven are engaged and as in love as ever; Ireland is much more comfortable with touch and wants to take their relationship to the next level. The last chapter belongs to them.

Krew is as sassy as always, and Max loves his boy; a cuddly present is involved.

Grayson is doing amazingly well with his fear of time. He and Beck are really hot together. Beck has a surprise in store for Gray that will melt your heart.

Arden and Iggy are working on their communication. Arden has been offered a great job with a clothing design firm, but taking it would mean moving, and Iggy worries about leaving his mom. They do work things out in the end. Arden is also doing better introducing new foods to his diet.

All the couples interact at the phobia conference organized by Dr. Erin, and this was fun to see. The steam level is very satisfying, and I loved revisiting with all the MCs!

I loved this series, and in 'Heal With You' Nicky James brings all the characters of the previous books together to attend a conference for phobias. And to be honest, I was really looking forward to it.

We get to find out how each guy is getting on and how he copes with his phobia some time after we left him at the end of his story. And it’s simple and humbling – although everyone has improved in some way, there’s still a lot of struggling going on, with some guys fighting more than others to keep their fears under manageable control.

It brings home that huge issues like this are never solved in the course of a few months or even of a few years. Each of these guys is a work in progress and most likely will always be, but that is not a negative thing .They all shine with their determination and willingness to do better and I take my hat off to their courage and willpower.

I loved certain scenes, like the huge step Ireland is taking with Raven, or Grayson returning home, and Rory finally – despite everything it entails - being able to visit his mum. And I admit it – I did have tears in my eyes.
The same happened when a certain young lady finally gives birth. Darn, that brought quite a few memories and a lot of emotions back!

This is in general a ‘quiet’ book. Apart from the tension between Iggy and Arden – which admittedly did feel a bit construed – and Krew being an irritable pest (for some reason his flamboyant self got me annoyed instead of amused on quite a few occasions), this a very much taking stock and giving each couple of the series an extended, wonderful epilogue.

This book is only relevant if you have read the series, although the author kindly sums up the basics about each couple at the beginning – thank you for that!

Fabulous series, wonderful ending!

I really loved this series!! I'm very sad that it's over, but at least there are a few more little stories waiting for me. So yayy!!!
Loved being reunited with all the MC's who have come a long way about their phobia's with their significant others.
All of them earned their HEA's and I'm so happy for them!
I have no words for Krew. He made me laugh a lot throughout the book. I think I can say that he is one of my favorite characters in the series!
Next is Rigger's novella. Max stepped in, as Rigger was stressing out Krew with the decisions he couldn't make. So I'm very curious about what kind of blind date awaits us!

I'm so pleased.. Loved being reunited with all the couples. I thought my heart would burst when Ireland took that new step in his relationship with Raven. - So proud of Rory when he pushed through his boundaries of his fear of light with his Adrian by his side. - Happy for Finnley and Aven's new family. - Iggy was as sweet as ever with Arden, working on their communication. - Beck's surprise for Grayson. - And let's not forget Krew, with his OTT behaviour.

All these couples have come a long way in their phobia's. It was an interesting journey and I'm very happy with their hard earned HEA's.

But sad for me cause this series is over...

In this breathtaking finale of her Trials of Fear series, she brought together all my favorite guys, weaved them a sweet and heart-tugging story, and gave them all the closure they deserved. And there it is. Sigh what a wonderful completion of everyone’s story. I’m sad to be leaving this group. This was what we’ve been waiting for since the last sentence of the first book. To see these men Finn, Rory, Ireland, Greyson, Arden, and even Krew to find there happily ever after. And we weren’t disappointed. I loved seeing the men and their partners. See what they have been up to while the other books were happening, and get to see them set off into their futures. I loved how none of their phobias were cured, and how they would struggle through them probably for the rest of their lives. But even through all of that they found their happiness.

To dr Kirby’s crew. Thank you for the information, the stories, and the love. Hopefully we will get to see glimpses of you in future novellas

I’m wondering if why Dr. Kirby specialized in phobias.......

This was an amazing journey. So amazing, I didn't want to say goodbye. This book was like meeting old friends, and see how they were doing. 💖
My favorite couple - and favorite book - was and remained Finn and Aven from Owl's Slumber. Firstly, because I felt very much for Finn, and secondly because I fell in love with Aven, so it was incredibly wonderful seeing them building their own family.
I loved how the characters were interconnected one way or the other, and I need to mention that Krew and Beck caused a lot of my laughs - these men were so funny I couldn't help cracking up with their antics.
Another mention is for Ireland. Jeez, I felt a connection with Ireland from his first apparition in Owl's slumber. Such a good man, so brave to admit his weakness, therefore so strong. So selfless with other people. Definitely a person I would love to have as a friend. 💕
Nicky James did an astounding job, and so did Adam Gold who managed to convey the different personalities of these characters. I couldn't recommend this series enough.

"Love just is. If we force ourselves to live within boundaries, we might miss out on something really special."

Heal With You is the 6th and final book in Nicky James' Trials of Fear series. Up until now each book has had the ability to be read as a standalone, this one is the exception. This one brings all six couples together at a conference and bids farewell to all these wonderful men. For this reason I'm going to stick to a spoiler free review and hopefully it gives you incentive to go start this fantastic series.

Heal With You is definitely a bittersweet ending that made me so unbelievably happy and so sad to say goodbye to these couples. You know when you read a book and you enjoy it so much that you secretly wish the author would release novellas about them and you anticipate them making cameos in future books. Well this books gives readers like me everything they could ever want. It brings all the couples together in one place. We get to see how much hard work they have put in to battle their phobias and how far they have progressed. We get to see each couples a few more personal hurdles when it comes to their relationships and the author gives us so many happily ever afters your heart is going to explode with all the love!!

Nicky James did an amazing job of wrapping up a beautiful series. Each couple received an ending that fit them perfectly. Thankfully she mentions at the end of the book that she will be sporadically releasing standalone novellas in the universe, making my heart super happy.

I love books with couples reunions! These are delicious epilogues!

Finn and Aven... awwwwww so happy for you

Rory and Adrian, so proud, our grumpy sunshine

Ireland and Raven... speechless, I love you! and finally ********** every touch is everything!their intimacy is one of the most beautiful and sexy things I've ever read... it seems like nothing can compare.

Arden and Iggy... That misscommunication was an unnecessary and unrealistic drama, but ok... Nicky's choices don't make sense. I loved his step forward and Iggy's love for his mother... it always melts me!

Beck and Gray... hey ok

I could do without Krew time honestly... I wish he liked BDSM so they could gag and restrain :)

What an incredible series... I learned a lot and I feel that I am more and more attentive, never judge without knowing!

Mental health is one of the most important things and anyone who fights against these invisible diseases deserves all the support and all the Raven's, Iggy's, Aven's, Adrian's, and even a Beck (without high expectations)!

I loooooved this one.
Seeing all the couples and seeing them doing better was do heartwarming.

I especially loved Ireland trusting Raven enough to have abal with him. It was huge step for him and I loved their scene. It was super intimate and super sweet and sexy.

Iggy and Arden had a misshap but of course they nade it better.

Between the babies and the proposals and the weddings... it was like a warm hug of a book.

And Krew... he was a riot!

Adam Gold: I want to marry your voice.

4 mixed-bag-of-feelings stars

I loved each individual book and all their characters and how each couple seem to link to the other couples. But this was definitely too many people in one place. It was nice to catch up with them, but it just felt a bit chaotic at times. Too many POVs! And too many transitions from one subplot to another. But this is a personal preference. Some people may love having so many different subplots and POVs. To each their own, yes? 😬

This was an excellent ending to a series -- one of the best I have read. I have always really appreciated the subject matter in the Trials of Fear series -- phobias are real, nothing to trivialize, and they are a huge hurdle to wrestle with daily. I also like how this series has always put the focus on how coping with phobias is always a work in progress. And I was glad to see each and every character get their just rewards, relationships, and contentment in this book. The whole experience of the series is definitely better if each book is read in sequence - so take the "not a standalone" warning seriously.

I will take everything in this book but Crew. Sorry, but he is just not a character I like very much. It doesn't matter that he is so out there. I kind of love that. I don't like that he feels a little selfish. He goes to the conference to be support for his friend, but then he ignores most of it, calls it boring and is on his phone most of the time.
If you didn't want to be there, then just do not go to the conference part.
I like Crew's man.

The rest of the stories are precisely what I was hoping. I love when we get to see couples living their best lives. The HFN stories, I think, are some of my favourites.

I loved the narration. I mean, Adam Gold is just lovely.

Oh boy...There really isn't enough stars for this...This has been a truly amazing series and I'm sad to see it end but what a perfect ending..We get all the guys at the conference they agreed to do....A chapter per couple..I think this made it more intense to read because just as something was starting to happen and you wanted to find out what happened next you were onto the next couple...I'm not spoiling anything here, but I will say I guessed right as to who gets a baby...I also have to say that Max is just simply dreamy and amazing and his love for Krew is just perfect...I really can't believe the series has ended but it's great that Ms James will be doing some novellas from this series..Can't wait for those x

Overall it was a great way to end the series! Seeing all the guys get their HEA was perfect!

I can’t wait to read Krewmas, because we all need a Krew in our lives to spice things up a bit!

I really recommend this series it was such a great read and every book left me both heart broken but also very happy for the guys.

Nicky James is such a gifted author, I can’t think of a series that I have read so fast and not get sick of the books besides TJ Klune’s books.

A fitting farewell to these characters, I liked how Nicky has circled back on all the couples and provided them with the HEA's that are wholly appropriate for all of them. I also appreciate the fact none are cured of their fears and instead continue to focus on getting through every day but from much healthier places. 4.5/5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐🌙

I wish I could give this a higher rating. Unfortunately, I just didn’t like a lot of this book. I loved catching up with Ireland and Raven, Finn and Aven, and Rory (because there wasn’t a whole lot of interaction between him and Adrian). But I found myself disliking Krew again after warming to him in his book. He was annoying and disrespectful at the conference. I still didn’t like Beck and felt disconnected from Grayson. It just fell flat. I would rate this at 2 1/2 stars.

Such a perfect way to wrap up this series (even though there are technically a few more novellas/short stories that I will definitely be reading). I love these characters so much and will genuinely miss them. Their bravery and the depth of their love inspires me.

The finale of the Trials Of Fear series and wow was this the most anticipated finale ever!

Nicky James has once again outdone herself with giving us another story that draws out the emotions!

The way all 6 couples were written with the multiple POV was perfect.

Their continued struggle with their phobias, the way each of them had to deal with getting to the conference, the struggle of talking at the conference itself. And finally their HEA!

I laughed hard (Thanks Krew) I had a little teary moment and my heart was just so full of love for all these boys it could burst!

It’s so hard saying goodbye to these men who have owned our hearts with their fears!

Nicky James - thank you! Thank you for your stories, thank you for the time and effort you have put into the research of these phobias, thank you for enlightening us in your words and thank you for being you! Stay beautiful ❤️❤️❤️

I loved to have a glimpse of my favorite couples HEA. They went through so much but with therapy, tremendous will and incredible partners they made it to a much better place. Ireland and Raven (god I love these two, beautiful 🥰), Rory and Adrian, Fin and Aven ❤️

Now the not so good parts:

Arden and Iggy have a little misunderstanding, that felt a bit forced imo, the moment I saw Iggy’s indecision I knew it was because of his mother, how Arden could’t see it seemed unrealistic, knowing how close they are…

As much as I love Krew I have to agree with some reviews that he was very disrespectful, I get that he is flamboyant and OTT but to comment on past hookups appendages, flirt and kiss other men in from of their partners and Max is not ok…

Beck and Grayson…well I have to say it I hate Beck, Adam Gold’s voice for his character irritates me, he sounds always so unaffected, distracted and detached. Grayson could have done so much better than that asshole. I skimmed most of their chapters, I couldn’t care less for their HEA. They are probably the best friends to lovers with worse chemistry I’ve ever read, I felt zero connection between those two, how is that possible when they know each other for more than 15 years is beyond me…

This book is definitely not a Standalone.  The culmination of the previous Trials of Fear books comes together and I completely embraced the interrelationships developing through the characters interactions. There was a lot packed into this book and it was tricky at times to keep all the threads clear but a great wrapping up of the storylines.
Adam Gold's narration is absolutely sublime - bringing all these wonderful characters voices together in this brilliant story. Outstanding effort.

Moving Toward a Promising Future!

The summation of the six couples, five extreme phobias plus Krew & Max is the continuation of good storytelling. Ms James has a great talent in explaining this unique human condition in ways that draws you in and make you care and commiserate with each the characters. Absolutely, a good read!

My favorite boys are back! (an audio review)

As explained in the synopsis, this book is not a stand-alone. If you haven’t read the other six books, you’re likely to get lost. And even if you have read them all, I recommend quickly scanning the synopses – especially if you’ve been listening to the books as each has been released. I grabbed each book when it came out, then waited with bated breath for the next one. I did a little happy dance when this final one came out.

Each of the men have been progressing in their own way through their individual recoveries. Some are going better than others. Some will, I believe, eventually fully recover from their phobias. Some will, I think, struggle for the rest of their lives. But that’s the burden of mental illness – all the therapy in the world can’t always fix what’s broken. You learn to live with it, and to figure out how to live your best life.

The journey each man took broke my heart. For some, like Rory, even getting up the strength to go to the conference is a huge ask. He’s partnered with the amazing Adrian, a psychology student who’ll never leave Rory’s side. I hope, one day, that Rory can go outside and into the light. Ireland is learning to cope with his aversion to touch, but the future is leading to more and more of that. Arden is, slowly, adding different foods to his menu choices. But his future plans are up in the air and he’s doubting everything around him. Finnley has mostly adapted to sleeping regularly, but the new arrival in their household promises to throw everything into chaos. Grayson’s time-watching less, and his partner has a secret that’s driving him nuts.

And then there’s Krew. Chaotic, lovely, loud Krew. He comes along to the conference to support Rory, but he winds up getting into all kinds of mischief. Poor Max. But Max turns the tables when they get home and oh, my God, what a happy surprise.

All of the men get varying degrees of a happy ending. Each is secure in their relationship. Each will live a fulfilling life. Each will find their own version of happily ever after.

Okay, so you have to listen to the entire series to get to this book, but the reward is intense. Finally, I have to mention the amazing performance of Adam Gold. Somehow, he managed to have twelve different voices for the men – Canadian voices – and I was never lost. I always knew who was speaking. I’m so glad he narrated this project. And I’m so glad I listened.
