Junior Guildhall Music Officer

Full Time, 35 hours per week, Permanent

Salary range – grade C £35,740 - £39,540, (including inner London Weighting), depending on experience

The post holder will be expected to work on Saturdays during term time (up to 12 Saturdays x 3 terms per annum).

Junior Guildhall is a specialist Saturday School offering advanced training to young people between the ages of 4 and 18. The students are able to combine their Guildhall training with their general education in local schools.

In this busy role you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the Junior Guildhall department alongside the Office Manager, with specific responsibilities for the administration of the String and Brass Training Programme including Kindergarten.

The ability to be self-motivated, maintain high standards and remain calm under pressure is essential. You will have excellent communication, numeracy and time management skills; advanced MS Office and IT competency. The ideal candidate should be first aid trained and have undertaken DSL training or be willing to undertake such training. They should have strong organisational and administrative skills. Knowledge of classical/contemporary music, ideally gained within the higher education sector, would be an advantage.

Guildhall Young Artists Norwich - Conductor - NCYO Springboard, Norfolk County Youth Orchestra’s Training Orchestra

Hours TBC: currently two four-day annual courses which are run during school holidays (28 – 31 October 2024 and 7 – 10 April 2025)
Salary: £39.50 per hour (self-employed) 

Guildhall Young Artists Norwich and Norfolk County Youth Orchestra are looking for a suitable candidate who will work with the Orchestra Manager and wider team to establish and develop the new NCYO Springboard Orchestra for players of Grade 3+ for the 2024/25 season.

We are looking for someone with the ability to introduce new members to orchestral playing and public performance and who is able to build their confidence and skills during a fun but purposeful course. They will develop an enthused and ambitious NCYO Springboard Orchestra and make sure that members are well-prepared to go onto into Norfolk County Youth Orchestra (which runs as part of the same course) when they are ready.

In conjunction with Guildhall School, Guildhall Young Artists Norwich and the NCYO Conductor, they will programme music from a wide range of styles to expose students to well and lesser-known repertoire across a broad spectrum of music. 

The role will primarily entail delivering the following elements:

  • Work with the NCYO Manager to establish and develop the new training orchestra.
  • Plan and prepare a yearly programme of music for NCYO Springboard 
  • Conduct 4-day NCYO Springboard courses, currently in the October half term and Easter holidays.
  • Lead sectional rehearsals during the courses, potentially including for NCYO.
  • Work with the NCYO Conductor and Manger on combined projects during the courses
  • Assist in concert and performance planning.
  • Conduct and participate in concerts.
  • In addition, the post holder may be required to attend planning meetings, programming meetings and training as required.

Junior Guildhall: Violin/Viola Teacher

Hourly Paid: £47.41 per hour (including holiday pay)

Junior Guildhall has a vacancy for a violin/viola teacher from Nov 2 2024 or as soon as possible after this date on the String Training Programme (ages 6 to 11) at Brentwood School, Essex.  This is an opportunity for a highly motivated, outstanding musician with a proven track record of working with talented students to be involved in this specialist music school on Saturdays.  Teaching will include delivering individual tuition to students across the age range. Currently the role involves around 3.5 hours of teaching but could extend to further hours over time.

Senior Student Services Officer 

Fixed Term (1 year), Part-time (21 hours per week)
Grade E, salary range: £46,050 – £51,530, (pro rata), including London Weighting, depending on experience

 

The Senior Student Services Officer will be an integral member of Student Services responsible for coordinating and managing student and staff enquiries from across Guildhall School, providing effective assessment and referral for student wellbeing and mental health enquiries and referral to specialist members of staff within the team, counsellors, safeguarding and external support services. 

They will be responsible for supporting students who may require a range of wellbeing support, including risk assessment. They will be responsible for working with members of Student Services to support Student of Concern (SoC) process and the School’s Report + Support Platform. 

This role requires a Standard Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Lecturer in Video & Visual Media

We are seeking an outstanding individual to take up the post of Lecturer in Video & Visual Media.

You will be responsible for teaching video and visual media design and production, across projects and activities that include video for theatre and opera, video for immersive events, installations, concerts and other settings; screen drama; and AR/VR/XR work. You will teach design processes, content creation, workflow models, and production realisation (including specification and fit-up of projection and display systems as relevant). You will supervise students undertaking production and project work, and overseeing safe working practices. You will have extensive industry experience that demonstrates continued high standing in the profession. You will also contribute to wider teaching, tutoring and assessment activities in the department. You will have experience of working in higher education settings; a good understanding of the needs of students in a complex learning environment; and the ability to represent your discipline in the public domain through professional/industry sector engagement, consultancy, and/or research (which could include R&D in new processes and equipment).

The Video & Visual Media Lecturer works predominantly on the BA Digital Design & Production programme and on the Theatre Technology pathway of the BA Production Arts programme, and has a close working liaison with Guildhall Production Studio, which produces a range of digitally-driven work at the School and in external settings with industry partners and clients. Our students learn through studio-based and workshop-based activities, study and intensive production and practice. They have opportunities to extend their knowledge by working on pathways other than their major area of study, and to develop their own interests and creative agency through independent projects. The Department is values-led and promotes diversity and inclusivity along with sustainable practices.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing teaching in your area of specialism. You will be organised, able to meet deadlines and manage your own workload. You will have up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and a commitment to promoting safe working and inclusive practices.
