This was an okay start for a series. It’s a world that had humans, shifters, witches and vampires. There was a backstory which was slowly being unveiled as this particular plot unfolded. I liked that Isolde was bold, independent and a warrior. But I also felt like her strength came from a place of privilege so it wasn’t necessarily strength from her character but strength from her position as princess and only child to the King. King Adrian was the one I really enjoyed because he had the task of balancing his heart with what’s best for his kingdom. They were almost always in conflict so that was intriguing to watch the King be a King.
This entire book didn’t do a good job of explaining why magic was attacking humans and forming an army of monsters (supernaturals) or what created the conflict with the witches and vampires. I will try book two and see if I enjoyed the world enough to continue this series...more

[image] I liked the set of the story, but I didn't leave the story seeing why Lenore was so special. Clearly she is a hybrid but the one display of her power wasn't enough to feel like she was a game changer in their world. Absolon also didn't really move me as a character so I didn't get invested in them It wasn't memorable for me to read book 2....more

's basically the same Cat and Bones story but from Bones's perspective of how he came to meet the 22 year old Catherine "Cat" Kathleen Crawfield, the vampire huntress.
Crispin Arthur Russell aka Bones was a sexy bounty hunter who turned the table on Cat when she tried to trick him on one of her hunts.
Bones offers to show Cat how she can maximize her strengths and compensate for the fact that she is only half-vampire. He also offers to let her assist him as he is going after a vampire ring selling young girls to other vampires for food/pleasure. As they train and fight together, Bones forces Cat to deal with her prejudices about Vampires, spurred along by her mother's vitrol against Cat's vampire father. Is there such a thing as a good vampire?
This book has it all. It was full of action, humor, romance and phenomenal writing. Night Huntress series is one of the best PNR/UF series I have ever read. I am amazed that at Cat's strength considering her age and lack of training. Bones is a riot and sexy to boot. Their chemistry was undeniable and they work well as a couple. I can't wait to read book 2....more

Bowen MacRieve was this heartless widow before we are introduced to the real man in this book. He was so badly damaged by his loss, his only reason for living was to get his dead mate back. We also meet Mariketa the Awaited, who seemed to be #2 on everyone's priority list. Their journey to love was entertaining and fun. Another good book from Kresley Cole....more

She doesn’t have any emotions and her life’s mission is to kill as many leeches as she can and to find a way to fix a mistake she feels she made centuries ago that cost her two sisters. When Kaderin came upon Sebastian Wroth, a loner vampire who was living in his castle alone, she couldn’t kill the pathetic “leech” and then the unthinkable happened. She bloodied him…meaning fate decided they were mates. There was nothing Kaderin hated more than leeches so she refused to accept this and thus Sebastian was forced to try to convince her that he was different from other vampires.
Sebastian Wroth worked hard to gain Kaderin’s trust and love. Wow. This series is really rich with supernaturals and the author did a great job in building the universe. It’s like the Characters have very strong convictions and they are ardent in their beliefs. It seems that their journeys to love challenges the beliefs they hold dear. They fight against it but it always seems to be worth it.
Sebastian was so patient and kind with Kaderin even when she continually rejected him. I love the small things he did, ticking her into bed, rubbing her back when she was having a nightmare, cleaning her face after she’s all bloody after a battle. He realized that he would need a long courting for a lifetime mate!
