I tried. I really have tried to give this author a chance because she is so popular and my bookclub LOVES her work. But her storytelling doesn’t pique my interest and I am never able to connect with her stories. I just find a lot of sex and little plot. I did finish it so I can be able to discuss at next months bookclub but I’m confident that Sierra Simone isn’t my cup of tea....more

I haI wanted to enjoy this story more than I did but it was slow and the peeling back of the layers of the mystery took so long that I lost interest. I had read Still Beating first so I was hoping to be enthralled like that book, but this slow burn romance didn't draw me in.
The main character Oliver was kidnapped as a child, before he was eventually escaped after 22 years, and this book was his reintegration into society and with people. He held on to Sydney as a connection to life as he suffered at the basement where he was held by a doomsday psycho. Sydney was a childhood friend and she wasn't really my favorite Jennifer Hartmann heroine. This relationship didnt make me feel good so I couldn't enjoy this book the way that I wanted. ...more
I enjoyed this book and I’m glad that I waited to read it. It reminded me a lot of Divergent and I’m a sucker of those k3.75 stars for world building
I enjoyed this book and I’m glad that I waited to read it. It reminded me a lot of Divergent and I’m a sucker of those kinds of tropes. I liked Violet because she wasn’t weak. She wasn’t afraid of hard work and she didn’t want to kill people. She would have been and an awesome scribe. Xaden was definitely Bae! Just for the lashes he wore alone! They were a good match up because they have something the other was missing.
I am going to hold off on book 2 until 3 is finished.
I was expecting a mafia romance, but it was very little Bratva. but I was very happy with this story becauNot really a mafia romance but a good story
I was expecting a mafia romance, but it was very little Bratva. but I was very happy with this story because it was a really good love story about resilience. Darby and Kellen both had a giant mountain of childhood trauma to overcome but their bond as kids and teenagers became a beacon of hope that gave them something to hold on to while all those around them tried to crush their spirit.
I didn’t like this title because Kellan wasn’t even in the top 3 evil people in this story. In fact, he felt so much, just like Darby. I love how little Darby gave him biscuits, fairy stories and just simple things like water. In turn, he later gave her courage to fight back and rescue him from the brotherhood and banish the voices in her head telling her she was stupid and worthless.
How could no one but a little girl notice what was happening to the little boy who lived with a priest? That’s just crazy. Also, no one came looking for John? No one from his firm? I would think a Harvard grad would have someone or some fiends who would come looking for answers.
I hope Kellan joins Darby in therapy one day and yoga too! ...more

Mia Stone was a strong heroine with her own subtle vulnerabilities. Seth Volk did creep me out in the beginning considering that he was in jail suspected of being a serial killer. Seth was everything I love in an alpha hero down to some ahole-ish tendencies.
I would love to know more if Mia’s FBI career and the serial killer case that wrecked her career. Seth and his family have some unfinished business pertaining to the silver mine and who will lead the family.
I didn’t enjoy this Kindle Vella thing. It felt like watching soap operas. Just am episode a day....more

First of all, I strongly insist that the Heir should be read before beginning this book. The background story really makes a difference in establishing the history and chemistry between Saff and Lachlan.
What a fun adventure in espionage and love. Lachlan and Saffron were a bit angsty as they fought in training and fought their attraction. I loved the way the author really allowed Saffron to be a girl boss and stand on her own merit. She was smart, strong and sexy. She was Lachlan’s equal in every way except he was rich. Saffron reminded me of Nikita and that was a tv show that I really enjoyed. I really liked Lachlan because he was good man. He pulled out the stops to win the respect of his lady who was his superior in the organization. Each main character had an interesting back story and motivation for why they are an operative. This is what a romantic suspense book should be like. Fun, fighting and you know what that starts with an f!...more

I came in knowing this was a prequel but I didn’t know it would enjoy it so much. What a great foundation to what I’m sure will be an awesome series! Saffron is a very serious and well trained operative but clearly she is in need of some fun and relaxation. Best friend Tabatha knows just where the action is and boy does Saffron get action. Saffron meets nice guy Lachlan at the bar but decides she doesn’t have room in her life for him. Will Lachlan be able to win her over? Good writing, well done sex scenes and lots of intrigue. I’ll be checking out the next book....more

It could use a but more foundation about Maksim and Blaire to appreciate their journey as master-servant dynamic. It’s not a BDSM story but more of an ownership master-worker/slave mob story. But a former friend turned rival Charlie comes into the picture and Blaire is caught in the middle of their personal tug of war. [image] I was mostly bored in the story and the writing style felt stiff. I imagined Blaire as a female Jason Bourne with a possessive sadist as her boss. I did enjoy the evolution Blaire underwent as she got pieces of the truth until she decided to take ownership of her own life as opposed to being an asset or tool for Maksim. With that said, I wasn’t intrigued enough about her to continue the series. [image]...more
Riley was another fun and intelligent heroine. I think that this author has found the magic formula with m4.5 Stars for Sassy lil Sister and the Ghost
Riley was another fun and intelligent heroine. I think that this author has found the magic formula with mob bosses who aren’t complete sociopaths and heroines who can hold their own with intelligence and humor.
This is the 2nd kidnapping story but it wasn’t like the prior book. Malek aka the ghost aka the hangman was certainly scary but Riley didn’t fear him just like her big sister Sloan didn’t fear Declan.
I enjoyed the plot and how author connected all 3 mob leaders, Kazimir, Declan and Malek. I also love the friendship/sisterhood between Natalie, Sloane and Riley.
My favorite scenes were when Mal patiently cared for Riley. That gave them a sweet foundation and showed he was capable of patience and sacrifice for Riley.
I chuckled a lot in this book and I also enjoyed the sex scenes immensely. This is the best series I’ve read this year and I cannot wait for Spider to get his story.
I think Sloane is just one of my favorite female characters of all times. She’s smart, witty, fun, adventurous and loyal!Sloane and Declan were a hoot
I think Sloane is just one of my favorite female characters of all times. She’s smart, witty, fun, adventurous and loyal! I liked her in book 1 but loved her in her own book. I knew when Declan kidnapped her at the end of book 1 that they would end together. But at times I was unsure if Declan would shoot her for just being sassy and exasperating. I found that part of their banter HILARIOUS.
She is one person that kidnappers would return for free because she just had a knack for driving people up the wall. Declan definitely met his match and I loved it. Honestly, the sex scenes didn’t drive this book as I was expecting. It was Sloane’s mind and mouth that made this book a winner!
I know I’m in minority, but I like Stavros aka Stavi...more

Wow. What a ride! I was completely unprepared for how much I would enjoy these characters. I loved Natalie because she was like a fresh canvas. She wasn’t stupid but she was naive, unjaded and looking for answers but she found Cage. This book had a lot of things I love, sexy chemistry, mafia men, a sassy best friend, a woman coming into her own but with a powerful man who gives her confidence to grow and an intriguing plot. Cage wasn’t a good man but he was a good man to her. The vulnerability and their banter was the best part of their relationship. They were just fun and captivating together. I really loved this one!
The wiring was really good. The power dynamic was fun. I can’t wait to get book 2...more

My heart was thumping on this one. What a wild and angst filled ride as Danny begins to run his father’s criminal empire. I loved Danny. Everything he did was for a reason even if he did it in an over the top way. He was brutal but he was loyal. I saw his heart and knew he was just hiding a golden heart.
Rose was such a warrior. I can’t imagine how she was able to keep pushing through despite all the atrocities committed against her. Their connection was so powerful. I love that the author established their chemistry and bond before they ever got sexual. My only complaint was the spacing of their sex scenes. The author took her time to build up the anticipation and then it felt like every other page was sex. It was hot and heavy all the time within a very small span.
I did love the book and I didn’t expect the twist but in hindsight, I should have. I enjoyed it because the villain was dealt with appropriately and I got my HEA! This is my first book by the author but I look forward to the next book in this series....more

I know many do3.5 stars This wasn’t a real cliffhanger but the story is unfinished. I really enjoyed the mysterious nature who was after Chloe Emmons. I know many don’t like fast developing love connections but I do so Nikolai Molotov’s words of predestined mates hit the spot. I enjoyed that this story wasn’t inundated with sex scenes like this author normally prefers to do. It was also not as dark as she normally writes. This mafia-lite story was right up my alley though there wasn’t really any mafia yet....more

I enjoyed this story but felt like I jumped into an already moving train. It was very clear that I came in the middle of a well defined universe so at times I felt lost. I will start at the beginning of this series and maybe this story will hit different ...more
