It felt different from the other series I have read by her but this book was just as enjoyable as those other series.
In this book, children born on a moon eclipse were considered "embraced" and were executed because they were deemed dangerous. So a few parents managed to sneak their embraced children off to a convent on a close island to be raised in secret. This series introduces the reader to five embraced girls living on the Isle of Moon, Luciana, Maeve, Brigitta, Sorcha and Gwennore. These girls are so close they consider themselves sisters
One day, a man shows up to the Isle of Moon claiming to be Luciana's father. He tells her why they had to give her away but now asks her to return with him in order to save his life from a corrupt King. Part of her mission to impersonate her twin sister Tatiana, who was supposed to be to wed a warrior known as the Beast of Benwick. The Beast was rumored to kill with a single touch but somehow Luciana was expected to win him over. The problem was that Luciana was opposite in temperament from her twin, Tatiana. That was part of the entertaining part of this story, Luciana trying to be someone else, yet her inherent goodness kept shining through.
Leofric of Benwick, the nephew of the evil king felt a connection the minute he laid eyes on his bethrod. However, his lightning power is also his curse. He can't touch anyone without frying them with his lightning touch. But he wants to be touched and by his intended, so that was a dilemma that he had to overcome.
But the author threw in some humorous sidekicks to make this adventure that much more entertaining. Leo's best warriors and Luciana's sister provided comic relief. Each character had an ability that helped them aid both Leo and Luciana. The author did a great job weaving this fantasy with a sense of adventure, humor and romance. It was really balanced and developed well. This was a really great start to a new series. I can't wait to see what direction the author will take the adventure in book two.

Graydon’s book was what I had hoped for. The sacrifice and enduring love theme worked for me. It was action packed, dramatic, sad, happy and most of all, it had the HEA Graydon had been denied for 200 years. Gryphon took over as Frist Sentinel as well as my favorite when Rune left to mate with Carling. The narrator Sophie Eastlake just delivered the story with a flair that was completely riveting. I love her voice and how she tells this series. I read the first two, but the audio is so much more powerful because of the narration.
There was such angst and anticipation due to the separation of the two, which made the story much more enjoyable for me. The pace was steady and exciting throughout. The chemistry between Gray and Bel was so palpable that my heart was beating fast. This book is definitely one of my favorites in the series. The author made sure to engage the prior couples in the story and the storytelling was engrossing. This series is definitely one of the best series in PNR.

★★★★. I must admit that I read this series for the dragons and don't care for the other supernaturals in the Demesne. But the last book as well as this★★★★. I must admit that I read this series for the dragons and don't care for the other supernaturals in the Demesne. But the last book as well as this one proved interesting enough.
This one began right where the last ended, with Vampire King Julian (King of the Nightkind) trying to prevent Justine's assassination attempts. While hunting Justine, Julian's former lady love Melisande was kidnapped by Justine to stay Julian's hand.
Melly is the light fae princess and now she must use her wiles to escape Justine. When Julian comes to rescue Melly, they are forced to work together. The problem is they have communication issues after all, that's why they broke up.
But this unfortunate abduction give them a chance to work together and address the unfinished business that has been lingering between them.
The audio was the same narrator Sophia Eastlake and she was on point as usual. She kept the story interesting and I ended up enjoying this one as much as book 7. ...more

I enjoyed this audio. Ayden and Freyrik had a lot of tension, but Freyik eventually wore Ayden down.
Ayden and his sister are elves who were captured by humans (all the humans in the book were terrible!) and Ayden was so worried that his sister would be raped that he consented to be a sex partner for the prince. Prince Freyrick was ruling the country in his brother's absence but he was a much kinder ruler.
Ayden was so distrustful of humans, but prince Frey eventually earned his trust. However, this relationship had a slave master and slave power dynamic even though Frey never treated Ayden badly unless they were in public. So It was a little hard to believe that the proud Ayden fought beside Frey during the surge. I did like them together though....more

I loved this one. I had been so hesistant since Aryal had been a grumpy ass harpie! But Thea Harrison made her interesting to read along with Quentin Caeravorn.
Ever since Dragos held the games where the sentinels were chosen, Aryal has had in for Quentin. She just knew it in her bones that he was sketchy. She tried and tried to find concrete evidence of his crimes, but couldn't find proof of Quentin's offenses. That anger and frustration led Aryal and Quentin to constantly fight, both verbally and physically. After a fight which had the potential to harm Liam, Dragos' son, Dragon banished Aryal and Quentin for 2 weeks to a month. He sent them on a mission to the Elven land of Numenlaur to find and help the remaining Elves that survived the war against Garvarel. Being forced to work together made them confront their attraction to each other. They pushed each other to the limit and it was because they had the same kind of inner drive. Once that aggression was channeled properly, some serious fireworks exploded between the Aryal & Quentin. They made a great team both in and out of bed.
When the witch who was scavenging the Elven land broke Aryal's wings, Quentin and Aryal and the elves banded together to fight of the Witch and the shadow wolves. This final stand cemented their bond and trust, allowing Quentin & Aryal to claim each other as mates.
this one was definitely tied with Tiago & Ninianne's book as my favorite. A lot of action and great plot. Thea Harrison wrote such an entertaining story. I found myself laughing a lot in this book. I loved it....more

In this book, we meet Bethany Boudreaux, a witch determined to claim her birthright. She devised a strategy which will require her to meet the people responsible for the massacre of her kind, but force them to aid her in reclaiming her legacy as a Lady of the Realm. The realm is a society ruled by a council made up off the Faeries, Witches, Elves, Vampires, Demons, Werewolves, Shifters and other supernatural creatures. In the realm, humans were servants/slaves with no rights. Bethany’s mom is a full blood DeDe Witch, but left to go live as a human. Bethany’s mom went into hiding before she had Bethany. Bethany discovered her heritage from someone else and decided she wanted all the glitz & glamour that accompany that life. Bethany sought out Lord Alek, the ruler of the New Orleans area and an Elf looking to expand his territory. Lord Alek agreed to teach Bethany everything she needs to know in order to take her place as a Lady of the Realm. Now, as Bethany enters the arena of realm politics, the power play games begin. Who can she trust? Who is an ally and who is her foe?
This story was just okay for me. I couldn’t stand Bethany. (view spoiler)[ For someone who wanted to be a lady, she had NO patience. She got mad too easily and would shoot off her potty mouth. She drinks too much. I suppose we are supposed to see her as a diamond in the rough, and Lord Alek & Malachi will polish her up nice and shiny but I didn’t see a diamond. She was definitely rough like one, but she was so irritating. I will grant that sometimes her stubbornness paid off, and usually it just made situations worse. She was sleeping with Lord Alek and his business partner/lawyer/best friend Lord Malachi, a half-breed faerie. In the beginning she had other sexual partners too. That got old really fast for me. I was hoping she would make a choice because I didn’t like the constant back and forth between Lord Malachi’s bed and Lord Alek’s bed. But I guess that will be in the sequels. (hide spoiler)] I actually liked Lord Malachi and her “shadow” Sigmund the demon. Heck, he is the only person she didn’t sleep with. She ranks in the top 3 most annoying heroines that I have read thus far. I honestly don’t know if I will read book 2. I am not interested enough to go on, but then again, I didn’t like the Kate Daniel series until I read book 2. So I may need to this sequel a chance. I just didn’t enjoy this one. ...more

Her uncle Urien (killed by Dragos in book 1) had murdered her family missing her. From the beginning of this book, Tiago and Niniane simmered with sexual tension, so I knew this story wouldn't drag his feet. The rest of the book was mostly Niniane figuring out how to balance her position of the Dark Fae Monarch, with her love for Tiago (a wyr) which wasn't made easy by the Fae or the Wyr. I really enjoyed this story and the writing was pretty fluid. I can't wait for Rune's story....more
