This is one of the few polyamory plots featuring people of color that I found well done. The trepidation each character felt seemed reasonable and the progression of the attraction to love between Mariana, Mason and Daniel was well paced. It had a whole lot more sex than I actually needed but they were sexy scenes. I especially enjoyed Mari having sexual freedom and agency in her life and in the relationship with the men. She clearly had trust and self confidence to communicate her wants, needs and desires. I alternated between the ebook and the audiobook as enjoyed both equally....more

I finished it because of book club and also because I have issues with DNF’ing books. I SHOULD HAVE DNF'd this book as I was as miserable when I finished it as I was 20% into the book.
I wonder if I would have enjoyed this book 15-20 years ago or before I read Twilight because almost everything in this book made me think of Twilight. Even the dreariness of Alaska made me think of Forks. The uncle made me think of Carlisle Cullen. I even started calling her cousin Alice. I kept hoping this slow crawling plot would pick up but it didn't. [image] I do wonder if I would enjoy twilight if I re-read it now. After all, I still watch the movies when they come on TNT or amazon prime. This book is a good example of how two authors can write the same general plot but the writing have a different flavor. I mean Twilight even had better names, Edward, Bella, Jacob, Alice, etc. Here we have Jaxon, Flint, Grace, Macy...
What I liked about Crav-light: *there were other supernaturals not just werewolves (witches & gargogyles). *heroine actual had history of supes in her family *didn't have parents to lie to when she came home after getting almost killed by supes *love triangle wasn't really a real one *Wasn't begging to be "Changed" into a vampire *No Aro and the Volturi In case you can't tell, I am just trying to justify forcing myself to endure 15 hours of this abuse. After my bookclub discusses this book next week, I don't ever want to talk about this book again....more

It is really a woman's fiction, not a romance story even though Sewanee and Brock eventually got together. This story was too slow paced for me. The author is actually one of my favorite narrators but this story was about a woman with a disability learning how to deal with her own insecurities, jealousy and later embracing a new career opportunity. It took a long time to settle into the underlying stories in the lives of Sewanee Chester, her best friend Adaku and Brock. Unfortunately, I didn't feel engaged or invested in their journey....more
