Which isn't really my kink of choice - but well, who am I to turn down a book? So I read it anyway.
A lot of the ideas and themes made me shake my head - because, like I said, it isn't my kink of choice and I'm by no means a sub female (and the females are very sub here, my oh my). Plus, the ending happened a bit too fast. However: kink of choice or not, in parts this was hot and sensual, and I could appreciate that....more

Or, in Jobs-sOrdered this via my Android phone, read it on my amazon Kindle, writing this review on my Packard Bell Laptop (which runs on Windows 7). Or, in Jobs-speak: I'm a stupid moron who doesn't deserve anything good because I'm per se not able to appreciate the really important things. Well, whatever. At least I can use my phone to actually make phone calls :P
What this book offers is an interesting overview on computer history of the past, well, 35 years. And of course I understand that Jobs, in a way, actually _is_ Apple. Still, this reads more than a company's (or technical branch's) biography than a personal one. Not that I'm sure I wanted to know more about Jobs' personality - I got to know enough, thanks a lot. I just hope other CEO-wannabes don't take Jobs' way as shortcut to quick success. At least not all of it. Being visionary is good. Making your employees share that vision is, too. Stealing from your employees and treating them like shit surely isn't.
Apart from my personal thoughts on all things Apple and Jobs, this book was interesting and a likeable read, yes, but too dry (maybe too long?) for my taste....more

Liked the shiftiRaw, direct, bold, honest, harsh. Reading this, you choose life. It might not be the life you wanted, but well, such is life, I guess.
Liked the shifting perspective from first to third narrator. Interesting twist, the reader is sometimes very close to Renton; then, we're watching him from a distance.

Of course it's scratching the surface of many topics only, but one can only tell so much in 5+ hours. But if you're looking for a general overview told in an entertaining way (it's Hape, after all), this is the audiobook for you. Hape tells it all with his usual wit and humour, sometimes with tongue in cheek (hehe), but also with respect and thoughtful comments whenever the situation demands it.
However, I couldn't help but notice two errors that bugged me. Both were regarding Henry VIII - first, it was said that his last wife, Catherine Parr, more or less "followed him into the grave", making it sound as if she died with him or right after him, when in reality, she outlived him for another 1.5 years. Okay, this might be nitpicking, given the huge amount of time discussed in this audiobook. But the second mistake was much worse: It's claimed that none of Henry's six wives gave him a son. Errr. What about Edward VI, then?
Maybe this chapter was edited sloppily. I didn't catch anything in another chapter, but maybe it's because I've spent quite some time with the Tudors lately that I caught these errors more easily than (possible) others. So, who knows.
Take this as light entertainment to give you an overview on people and events, nothing more and nothing less, and you'll be fine. If it wets your appetite to know more about someone/something, you'll need something more profound anyway....more
