We continue on with our second gen family but this time it is Callen & Caitlin’s story. Callen is the youngest child of Coach & Katherine so he has quite a few much older brothers and sisters. Caitlin is the daughter of Amelia & Sam.
We don’t really get to see Callen & Caitlin fall in love because they have loved each other for years. What we do get is Callen trying to resist her due to a promise he made her brother. Everything always seemed to be a bad case of bad timing or someone getting in the way. Just when Caitlin believes that Callen is finally open to a relationship with her, the rug is pulled right out from under her. A relationship with Callen may not have worked out, but she is carrying his child. There were a lot of emotions and tensions going on. There are obstacles to work through but will they do it together or apart?
Bella really put us through it with this one. The emotions. The angst! It felt different than a lot of her other stories. Caitlin definitely made Callen work to get back in her good graces, but boy was that man determined and willing to do whatever it took! I love that he was not going to give up. From the second he heard she was in trouble he was all in and was going to fight anyone who got in the way. I would have liked to see some of the plot points expanded on but overall I was so in love with this story. I liked getting to see these two being vulnerable and they also showed lots of growth, especially as they had to accept the idea of being parents.
I am a sucker for a brother’s best friend story and this really hit all the things I love about it. One of my favorite things is when the FMC stands up to her brother and boy did Caitlin bring out her feisty side here! I enjoyed the little pieces that we were shown of Drew and Gray when they were younger. It helped us have an understanding of their relationship and how much they meant to each other. When Gray was overseas, something awful happened and it was the start of the downward spiral of Gray.
Now four years later, Gray is back in town and they can’t seem to stay away from each other. Everything about their reunion was emotional. These two deserve the best HEA, but they really had to fight for it.

Damien strikes a deal with Pippa and they have a little bit of a steamy encounter together. You can tell immediately how much chemistry they have together. After their time together, Damien goes through a devastating loss and he ends up going to Pippa for comfort. The strong, fearless, morally gray mob guy is an absolute softy when it comes to Pippa. He absolutely treated her like a princess and made it impossible for her not to fall in love with him. They had a whirlwind romance where they both fell quickly but they had some obstacles that stood in their way.
When they finally hit a point where they can’t overcome the interferences, Pippa breaks it off with Damien and breaks both of their hearts. Fast forward a year and things are getting even more difficult for them to ever find their HEA. With Damien being forced to marry someone else, Would it be possible for them to find their way back to each other? Good thing Damien is so in love with her that he will do absolutely anything to get her back.

This story was so good and was action packed with lots of moving pieces. I always am amazed at the way that Hannah weaves the storyline from her current book to her previous book. The timeline of this overlaps that of Last Boy but you do not need to have read it to understand the book.
Briar is being forced to marry Ezra by her horrendous uncle. Briar may appear to be weak to everyone around her but she is playing the part while trying to get close enough to be able to take them down. Hudson is her bodyguard and the last person she should be getting close to but when she is alone, Hudson is there for her. Their bond grows stronger despite trying to stay away from each other. The problem is that when dealing with the m.afia, you never know what to expect. When it seemed like things were going their way, they got yanked away from each other with their life on the line.
The fast paced last half of the book will have you on the edge of your seat unsure how things were going to go down. I really enjoyed Briar and Hudson together. They both have a tragic past that they have to work through in order to be together. Hudson’s particularly was really emotional. It took a lot of him to accept his feelings for Briar but once he did he was all in. Briar was really supportive of Hudson and respecting his feelings for what he lost in his past. Briar was the perfect mixture of sweet and feisty and was perfect for Hudson.
Hannah always delivers the most beautiful stories that are very plot heavy while also having the perfect amount of spice. I know one particular scene that will never leave my mind. Everytime I read something from her, I think to myself “why are more people not talking about this”.
Megan and Archer have a meet cute that is cute but maybe also slightly dangerous and ends up with anaphylaxis and a trip to the hospital. Megan is up for the job as the finance manager for the Sharks and Archer is initially against it but reluctantly agrees. I found it interesting that we go back in time with this book and see how things went down with the other couples from a different perspective and learn that Megan and Archer had something going on behind the scenes all this time. There is a little bit more to Megan and Archer than we initially know, and I felt it was so well written to have that woven in piece by piece.
Archer & Megan don’t have an easy go at this relationship. They have to work for it, there are things that try to get in their way but ultimately their love wins out and they have the most beautiful relationship. Even if I wanted to cry while they had to spend time apart, I think everything they went through was perfect for them.
Lee Samuels and CJ Bloom were absolutely perfect yet again for this audio. The emotions and the pain were so powerful but also the moments where they were just fun and carefree and sexy. They elevated this story with their performance and made it a very enjoyable listen. ...more

Because of this, Nick was having trouble dating, and Bex was scaring off all hers so they decided to help each other. I really loved Saylor and King’s past and the way they were genuinely there for each other and were a major support for each other. I wanted more of these, not because the story needed it, but just because they were so perfect! While Saylor and King may have a friendship of their own, Kingston’s friendship with Hayes is such a brotherly bond that he has had it in his head for years that nothing more could happen with Saylor.
With King helping Saylor with her bookstore, they spend more time together. We get to see them be a little jealous of others. And there is so much longing and desire between them. I couldn’t wait for something to happen between them, and boy did Laura make us wait! Together they just made sense. Even though it was eating King up inside not being able to tell Hayes, when he reached the point where he couldn’t hold back anymore, you knew they were going to be forever.

Callum is reunited with Ivy when she gets an internship as an athletic trainer for Callum’s team. With Ivy back in his life, Callum is determined to make amends and get things back to how they used to be. I like that Ivy made him work for it, but even when she forgave him, she still held onto the pain that he caused her.
I really enjoyed the way they were together. The fun spirited, party boy football player and the strong, caring athletic trainer who has a fact for every situation. They balanced each other out and they just had this chemistry from being so close for years. They had some bumps in the road and obstacles to figure out but together they are able to get through it.

But my first problem was that I couldn’t really accept that this hockey playboy couldn’t stop thinking about his ONS. Now getting over that part and just thinking of them in the present, I really did enjoy the story.
Rylan just transferred to the school where her dad is the hockey coach. Aiden is not only surprised to discover that Rylan is his coach’s daughter, but also that she is his new tutor! They had a lot of fun together and the way they fell for each other but had to keep things secret really kept me interested. The spice was burning hot the entire time! I am not interested in reading more from this author to see how the spice in her other books are!
The narration was great. I never have any complaints from Connor Crais and Erin Mallon. They easily became the characters. The performance was exceptional and they really captured all the details of the story. ...more

I enjoyed Emily & Whip’s banter. And adding in the forbidden aspect to their relationship made it so much more exciting. Whip is a filthy talking firefighter who knows what he wants. Emily is a teacher whose heart might be just a little bit too big. There were plenty of cute and hilarious moments between them while the spice was also spicing!
I actually was pretty invested in the secondary story outside of the romance. I think this little mystery/ suspense will keep readers coming back for more because we must find out what is going on! ...more

While she thought he was committed to her, it turns out there were still other women. But their intertwined life made it hard to leave so they kept putting on a show.
Alex is Hunter’s brother and steps into the role as Riah’s brand manager. And he pushed her to be sexier and the way he did it was, phew, so hot! Alex brought out a side of Riah that he hadn’t discovered but grew to love. The closer they got, the more intense things got. Their sneaking around and secrets made it more thrilling. I was burning up the entire time listening to this! This wasn’t any sweet romantic s-e-x, they really brought out the dirty in each other. They did truly love each other though and it took them a while to admit that.

The moment Rowan sees Shayla looking at him, he is done for. Rowan was a man on a mission to make Shayla his.
Rowan’s relationship with Kai might be my most favorite from the series so far. Rowan helped Kai so much and it was so sweet how he was there for him and really helped him grow. Rowan brought life back into Shay and Kai’s life and he did it so effortlessly.
Spectacular audio ! Teddy & Samantha are top tier narrators and they really took on these roles of the characters. I love that this is in duet narration and you really get to see the way the characters interact with each other....more

I think it is easy to read this book if you haven’t read the football series. Emily does a great job with revealing the significant event that happens between the MCs parents. This does read a little bit like a full prequel before the series because they are still in college at this point but it is a perfect way to tie it in for the rest of the series.
Troy is on the hockey team and is in desperate need of help with his grades to stay in good standing on the team. When he goes to get help, its none other than Angie there. Angie and Troy come from rivaling families. Angie wants to hate Troy but he really works to break down her walls. I really enjoyed Angie as a character. She was smart and strong, she was loyal to her family until it was her heart on the line and then she had no problem telling them how it was. Troy and Angie also complemented each other really well. It was funny to see Troy try and get Angie to enjoy hockey since she is a football girlie.
This book left me wanting so many other stories. I can’t wait to get the story for Troy’s mom and dad, I am also waiting for Marcus and Harper’s story as well as seeing where the stories of the players of the Colorado Black Diamonds take us. ...more
