What a weird and kinda thrilling read. Grotesque in quite a few places. Bloody.
It was a little predictable where the plot went. It was still entertaining. I wasn't too sure about the 'hero' almost portrayed as a good-guy with unfortunate circumstances.... buuuuut he was really unperturbed went it came to his uncles victims.
I enjoyed it though, AND BE WARNED, that DAMN prologue is the peak scene of the book, WTF, massive spoiler!...more

Best opening chapters ever. Killer awesome. I loved the intricate details, i really enjoyed the plot, i liked the characters. It was a interesting, different read. The writing was great, the supporting cast made me curious for the next books too. There's some really dark moments in there too, which made the tiny bits of humour surprising and good. I'm really looking forward to the following books....more

So they're I think i expected these books in the 'Jordan's Game' series to be mostly or at least half erotic/kinky. Jordan organises sex games right? So they're called 'Jordan's GAME'. But the books aren't based on fantasies, or kink, or sex. They're more situation based.
The Pleasure of Panic was too complicated for me. The story left you dangling on revealing secrets and information until the very end. I do like how all the books tie with her other series', but when you haven't got a good memory like me, all the information and names can leave yourself confused. Even more so when the characters are talking in circles.
I love Huss' character names, they're always unique characters too. I am enjoying the series despite my reservations....more
The book took a little while to grow on me, not without it's fault, it was still a good read.
I could've done without the addition of 'One', the female 'baddie' and some of the description; clothes, hotel room, the word jizz :P I could've done without too.
Our heroine, Paisley was the perfect depiction of an average girl with quick wit, she became more and more in my eyes as the book went on. I liked her development. She made me laugh a whole bunch.
Our hero, Six, could have done without the sociopath tag to be honest. I didn't see him as one, he felt more meat-heady and I liked him like that. He was hot, dangerous and rough.
The story was slow in the first half, building up to an action packed second half, I liked the secondary characters (loved Five) and the way it amped up.
The sex was most certainly one of the highlights. Rough, dubious non-consent, voyeurism and pure lust burned throughout the scenes.
I wouldn't say it was a dark read, I wasn't totally grossed out or afraid for our heroine, but it certainly was a thrill. Recommend for lovers of Shay Savage, ironically.

Commodity is sci-fi/dystopian romance with a setting that is along the lines of The Hunger Games & Independence Day. It's jam packed with action, there's never a dull moment.
I loved this book! It's unique, gritty, romantic. There's some very dark parts; death, rape, slavery.. They really added to the impact of this newly dystopian world.
Despite my rating, there is some discrepancies. Some things felt overly coincidental or a bit off; (view spoiler)[the fact that her sister was kidnapped by the same people the h was testifying against, for a different reason. That two guys from said people had survived the invasion. How did the men just standing in the field survive when all the men except those underground died? (hide spoiler)]
Even through those faults, I still loved it. You're going to have to suspend some disbelief for this one.
Savage wrote awesome hero, as always, she spoiled us with action, gave us a bit of humour and sexiness, and topped it off with something different. 4.5 STARS for a book that kept me hooked and made me feel.

J A Huss never fails to write an intricate story with unique characters and lots of character depth.
At first, yes I was a bit surprised with our hero in Meet Me in the Dark, his first encounter with the heroine involves him punching her in the face. He's pretty mean and violent towards her for the first half of the book, it made me wonder how on earth they were going to fall in love. Or even if they were.
I enjoyed both the storyline, the characters and the new take on a 'captive romance'. The romance and sex lacked a little for me, but more than made up for it with everything else.

Be warned Ricochet is an incredibly dark and violent romance set in Detroit, featuring: Heavy violence, gruesome torture, death, drugs, rape, prostitution, abuse, self harm, psychopaths, paedophiles, gang members... and more.
Three years ago, I had everything. A beautiful wife. A son. A reason for living.
Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.
I’m no longer Nick Ryder. I’m a masked vigilante. Faceless. Loveless. Fearless. A man with nothing left to lose—one who's seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.
Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am. Or what I want. All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife. An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.
I loved the theme of revenge. The grit and violence made it, probably, the darkest read I've read so far. There were some points where I was genuinely surprised by what was written in, I didn't expect how far it was willing to go.
It gave me all the intended feels, the horror, the suspense, the sadness, the heat.
I admired the depth of the storyline, the set up and the scenes that were played out. There was never a dull moment.
I also really liked the characters, I loved the wickedness of Michael. The visual of Nick and the loyalty and kicking ass-ness that came with him. And I enjoyed the ballsy, brave and mouthy 'Pistol Lips' Aubree.
Why not 5 stars? The writing became a little awkward with an odd analogy here and there. I didn't love the characters. I guessed the major reveal, which should have been less predictable and wound tighter. Also with a bit more of a bite and less soppyness in the last scene; would have made it perfection for me.
Maybe it's just me being picky, it's definitely going on my favourites shelf anyway.

'Stay' kicks off on a mystery. The heroine, Laurel, seemingly suffering from amnesia, is battling with her mind, finding herself on the edge of a balcony, not knowing who or where she is, or who her fiancé is.
Rewind six weeks and ballet dancer Laurel Hayward is a witness to a murder and almost kidnapped by the killer, taken into protective custody she meets Deputy U.S Marshal Jason Dunn.
Laurel battles with a mix of annoyance and lust when it comes to living in such close quarters with Jason's bad boy persona. Whereas Jason knows how much he wants her, but knows he shouldn't. Not only could he lose his job, but he also finds himself wanting to comfort Laurel, a very foreign feeling for a man who lacks any soft emotions.
I really enjoyed Stay, it's definitely for those who like some action. The characters were likeable. I loved the inclusion of Shawn; Jason's brother. He really added some humour to the story and I’m looking forward to more from him in the next book....more

His suffering is evident. He's on a downward spiral, he's breaking down, he's turning into a monster and revenge is all he can see.
'An eye for an eye. A daughter for a daughter. A life for a life.'
Emily is lonely, sexually dissatisfied and bored. She dreams of excitement and bad boys. After chance meeting with 'Sin', she's dreaming of him too. But soon he turns into her nightmare.
Soon Sin is battling with the man he's become and the man he used to be. His desire is screwing up his plans, and Emily is slowly breaking him down.
'When she pressed her lips to mine. I came to life.'
It's a classic story of a broken man and the woman who wants to save him.
I gave it 3.5 stars because, for a short book, it took some time to kick off. And, because of the aspects included in the story; lust, wrath, revenge, hatred... it didn't feel as thrilling as it could have been. Also, I think 'The Wrath of Sin' could have highly benefited from being written from a singular POV. This would have improved the book in three ways. One; to avoid repetition of a few scenes from different point of views. Two; It would have cut out the backstory that took up too much time in the beginning of the book. Three; It would have given an air of mystery to one of the characters and allowed us to discover who they were as a person with some character development.
The first few chapters pulled at my heartstrings. I really felt for 'Sin'. His suffering was realistic and in turn his character was too. He battled with his emotions and morals in a genuine way. Emily was a fixer, and I enjoyed seeing her slowly uncover the man that Sin really was....more

BLURB: Brody, has not long finished a two year undercover mission bringing down the bad guy.
'In order to clean up the streets, someone had to get dirty. And I got dirty... the kind of dirt that soap couldn't wash away.'
Brody has had to re-arrange his morals in order to fight for the greater good. Losing himself in the process.
'It was easy to forget I was no longer working on a case, that I was no longer pretending to be someone else. I'd spent so much time with other people (mostly criminals) and not being myself that I honestly wasn't sure who I was anymore.'
He's lonely and lost. But he's also on vacation.
'So what did a guy with essentially no life outside of work do when he found himself with time off? He went fishing.'
Before he leaves, he goes to the bank to make a withdrawal. After flirting with Taylor, the girl behind the counter, the bank is held up at gunpoint, robbed, and Taylor shot. But when one of the criminals spots Brody's gang tattoo, he's mistaken for one of them and forced to keep up the pretense.
'Tattoo' is the 4th book in this series that I have read. I really think Hebert is good at writing action and broken alpha males. Her book 'Text' proved that she is really good at writing suspense too. I'd love to see some more of that.
Brody was a great diamond in the rough character, he felt like a bent cop, determined to bend the rules if he saw it fit. Taylor fell at the wayside a little because Brody was much more interesting. She was likeable though, a tomboy with a side of girly and a bit of attitude. I also enjoyed the storyline, things were kept fresh and it kept pace.
For me, 'Tattoo' is VERY close to a 4 star read for me. A little more about Taylor and a little less of the dodgy lines that were used during sex. For eg... 'steely, unbending rod', 'he speared me with what could only be described as an unyielding sword', 'unyielding thickness', 'unyielding flesh', 'riding him like he was a wild bull and I was a cowboy', 'his hot seed spilled inside me, and my body gulped it in like I was a dying man in need of a drink'.
I would recommend this to readers who enjoy romance-action and law enforcer heroes. I wouldn't recommend this to readers who are bothered by romances that progress very quickly. ...more

I don't really read these kind of books, so this is unique for me, I don't have anything to compare it with apart from films. So, think Jumanji meets The Hunger Games meets Saw meets The Breakfast Club :D
The 'Compass Rooms' is a new form of criminal justice, of execution. The ultimate test, it determines whether the criminal is good or evil and whether they should die or not.
Evalyn Ibarra is accused as a killer and terrorist after a college shooting. A year into her sentence, she's been nominated to enter the month long obstacle course that is the Compass Rooms.
Evalyn and nine other of the most notorious and psychotic criminals are put to the test. Who is truly evil? Who is going to die? And who is going to live?

After being brutally raped by her Biker 'Uncle' Doran and his sons, 15 year old Juliette managed to escape and fake her death. Years after the mental torment hasn't faded and she vows revenge. At 21 years old, she returns, ready to kill them all.
I was actually really surprised to rate this book 3 stars because of how many ratings it has and it's overall rating.
My problem with it was it's inconstancy and contradicting story, which could just be incredible plot holes.
For eg; Juliette was 15 when her ordeal happened.. Elliot - a cop - helped her to a safe house. They fell in love. And she hasn't seen him in 3 years. Now she's 21..... So this Eliot - who is old enough to have been a cop AND WAS A COP - was dating her when she was 15 til 18 years old. Then, she goes on to say how good a man Elliot was, yet he left her at her lowest.
So Juli is girl who 'dreamed of revenge' for 3 years... What did she plan? All I know is that she learned to dance, in order to be a stripper at the MC club. Did she spend the whole 3 years dancing? You don't need to be that talented to be a stripper. And not til just before did she do something about her appearance. You'd think she'd get her scars covered up before she went back, knowing she'd potentially taking her clothes off. And surely she would have built up strength, come up with a plan b. She just seemed totally careless.
The sex seemed unreal too. Anal with a bit of spit? Fucking Doran so easily and feeling barely any anger towards him? Forgetting how evil Doran can be?
I admit though, the book was dark, gritty, entertaining and fast paced. I'm hoping the romance with Jace will improve, he seems 'nice' and they have a little friendship going on. But that's it.
I'll carry on with the series, but I just hope there's no more contradicting behaviour.

After Luke was mesmerised by a captivating singer in the bar last night, he meets her again at a boxing gym.
I really liked both Andi and Luke, Andi a little bit more, she was the kind of female I love. She's all tatted up, fiesty, cocky, strong, protective. Luke is an alpha, but kind of phony cockiness, he's also alone and a little lost.
This book uses the characters pasts to make the story. Luke has been virtually abandoned by his family for choosing boxing as a career. Andi has been from one foster home to another before making family with Mac (owns the gym) and Shane, who serve as a father and a brother figure.
I liked that this started out as friendship for the two main characters. I can't say too much about it, but the story has ups and downs for the two of them, also some suspense and steam. Very good read....more
