I Knead You Tonight

Rate this book
I hate Drew Woods, and she hates me.

Even so, I'm not the cold jerk most make me out to be, and I have no problem moving the single mom and her baby into my home. I do, however, draw a line when it comes to acting on the way her loose lips make me feel.

Alive.

She's too mouthy, too prying, and her curves are way too distracting.

I might have lost my way after a nearly fatal car accident, but I'm not stupid. Giving in to Drew would be a short-lived fix for this pain I'm saddled with, and I knead something permanent.

I'd be insane to think what we have could be anything other than temporary...right?

Give me all the enemies to lovers/single parent romances! When I saw I Knead You Tonight had a single mom and was enemies to lovers, I couldn’t wait to read. As much as I enjoyed the first book in this series, I loved this one even more.
Winston Daniels…My best friend’s twin brother and my mortal enemy.

Drew Woods is a single mom and best friends to Wren Daniels. Wren’s brother Winston and Drew do not get a long. When Drew finds herself in a bad place and Winston offers her help, she doesn’t want to take it, but she has her baby to consider…

I love a good banter between characters and these two had the best banter. I also loved seeing the changes in Winston. He had so much growth through this book. He wasn’t exactly what he seemed, and he had such a big heart. I loved seeing him with Drew’s son most of all. Winston and Drew had an amazing connection, even though they tried hard to fight it. When they finally gave in, it was fire.
“I like it when you’re real to me. You’re the only one who doesn’t let me just sit around and waste away. You push me.”

Teagan Hunter never fails to make me laugh out loud while reading. And though this is funny and I did laugh a ton, it also had a lot of emotion and a lot of heart. It was one of those reads I flew through because I never wanted to put it down. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fast-paced, enemies to lovers with laughs, love, and feels!!

There was too much hate and so little love. The H was one of those don’t judge a book by its cover types, and I liked him. The h was simply put . . . a bitch. To be honest, I couldn’t really see them as a loving couple. More like frienemies who constantly scold, bicker and butt heads with each other and occasionally fuck.

The reason they did it (argue) came from a place of deep rooted care. However, they way they (the h more like) delivered it sounded mocking and judgemental (IMO) and dang if I didn’t feel sympathetic but also a second hand embarrassment for the H. I guess I liked the part when they weren’t fighting and played parents to the baby.

Bad. Seriously this book is bad.
It is a NA romance story. The characters, plot, chemistry is non existed. The characters have no chemistry at all. The plot of pushing and pulling is very annoying. And immature. Winston is pathetic hero who has no idea what to do with his life.

Drew is smart ass heroine. She plays the role of the one who knows it all but very very bitchy and immature. I try to like this book. I really am. At then end, I decide I do not like it at all.

Oh Teagan Hunter, here you are again, back at it with the snark, heat and heart all wrapped up in one.

If there's one thing I know I can count on from Teagan Hunter's books is that I will enjoy the read whether I want to or not. It's not negotiable.

Winston and Drew was a stubborn couple to follow in this novel and I must say at times I truly wanted to smack there heads and show them want is right in front of them. Yet, suffering through their stubbornness was worth it, as they were able to become much more well rounded (still a bit tough to crack) people.

When Drew's car breaks down for the millionth time and she needs to head home go see her baby, it's Winston of all people who comes to her rescue.

If you met them in book 1, you know they have this hatred for one another that had really stemmed from nothing other than them both being very high headed individuals.

Winston is a tough guy, but he's so soft inside. He takes Drew and her three month old baby, making them stay with him under his roof, seeing as her apartment can barely allow them to survive.

The push and pull of needing help but not wanting it is what keeps them colloiding together. As they both need the push of someone else to strive further but aren't willing to listen. Yet when emotions get entangled and it's something they both want so desperately, it's only about time they start listening and becoming one with one another.

A fun, playful, low on angst read. With a lot of eye rolling moments, snickers and laughs to keep you forgetting about the real world but living in this Slice World instead.

****Before I Read The Book

Giving away the stars becuase I read the first chapter at the end of A Pizza My Heart and I know this is going to be another hit! I knead you right now but I'll wait patiently here until I can grab my copy!

Five pizza stars for Drew and Winston ❤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Teagan Hunter is one of my favorite rom-com writers.

She always makes me laugh when I read her books and this one wasn't an exception.

I really enjoyed Drew and Winston's love story.

Their relationship wasn't easy from the beginning. They hated each other but deep down their hate was actually a love which they didn't want to admit because of their stubbornness.

If you're looking book with a single mum and enemies to lovers tropes, then this one is for you and you need to read it!

Life hasn’t been easy for Drew. She’s worked her ass off just to make ends meet for her and her 3-month old son. During her pregnancy, her boyfriend decided he wasn’t ready to be a dad, leaving Drew a single mom. She works as a waitress at her best friend’s family pizzeria, Slice, but somehow it still isn’t enough. Even still, Drew loves Slice. Except for the fact that she has to work with Winston, her best friend’s twin brother. The two of them can barely stand each other, and that’s how it’s always been between them.

Winston is perceived as a lazy stoner who can’t show up to his job on time to save his life. But 3-years ago, Winston got into a car accident that’s left him with excruciating, lasting pain. And the only thing that helps him is smoking weed, but his self-medication has earned him a bad reputation. Winston has a love-hate relationship with working at Slice with Drew. The two of them are sworn enemies—or so Drew thinks. In reality, Winston has a soft spot for his twin sister’s best friend.

So when Drew lands herself in some financial trouble, Winston offers for her and her son to stay with him until they’re back on their feet. Even though Drew is shocked by Winston’s generosity, she’s in no position to turn down his offer.

What starts out as them constantly bickering turns into a genuine friendship. And before long, both of them are questioning whether they truly ever hated each other or if what they’re feeling might actually be love.

I Knead You Tonight by Teagan Hunter is book 2 in the Slice series. I loved Winston and Drew’s romance; they each were such misunderstood characters. Stubborn in their own ways, but had true love for one another. This series keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to read more! 4.5/5 stars.

Drew was kinda a bitch though. I liked Winston to an extent but there was no chemistry between this characters. I didn’t like them together and I just can’t get past how fkn shitty Drew was to Winston when one bad thing happened. It defs felt like the attraction was more one sided on Winston’s part. These characters would have been better with different people. I also just didn’t like Drew.

SINGLE MOM. ENEMIES-TO-LOVERS ROMANCE. ROOMMATES-TO-LOVERS ROMANCE.

Teagan Hunter has entrapped me in her stories. Whether it be an emotional and gut wrenching read or a lighter book filled with belly laughs, she continues to enthrall me. I am consistently looking forward to reading her new releases and jump quickly at the opportunity to read her books because she knows how to make me smile. I Knead You Tonight is everything I was hoping for. I didn't feel like reading something heavy but I also wanted something that had some seriousness to it and this book encompassed both. This book deals with the difficulty of being a single parent (she wrote it with ease and truthfulness) but also of two polar opposites who, despite a LOT of resistance, begin to fall in love. The road isn't an easy one to navigate. It's rocky, hard, and at times hilarious, but it's also really sweet and heartwarming.

The characters are definitely what made this book into something special. If you read A Pizza My Heart then you will recall both Drew (she's the heroine) and Winston. Drew is Wren's best friend from the previous book and Winston her twin brother. While this book can be read as a complete standalone, I recommend reading A Pizza My Heart first if you don't want relationship spoilers from Wren's story.

Back to the characters. Drew is a little bit different than I thought she would be considering when I first "met" her in A Pizza My Heart she kind of came off as a sassy chick filled with sarcasm. In this one though, we see another side of her. One that is a bit more tender but still holds the sass and sarcasm that I came to love. I love seeing her in the role of MOM to her baby boy and the fierce protectiveness she has over him. It was also nice to see her struggle. Teagan really showed the other side of parenting, especially those who have to go at it alone. I related to Drew because of this and am so happy Teagan didn't make her as the perfect heroine with no issues because it wouldn't have worked for the story.

Winston is the grumpy hero of the story. It took me a teeny bit to like him- again I thought he was going to be this hilarious man without a care in the world (sort of like Drew) but we were able to get a deeper look at him in I Knead You Tonight. Once again, Teagan didn't write him as "perfect" but instead showed his own struggles with life making him easily relatable. He may have been grumpy, but I certainly gained and understanding to his attitude and fell in love with him because of it. Dare I say he just might be my favorite hero of Teagan's books? MAYBE!

As I mentioned, this is an enemies-to-lovers romance and Teagan wrote is PERFECTLY. Their banter, the way they "hated" each other, and their overall reactions towards one another is HILARIOUS. This is exactly what I look for in an enemies-to-lovers romance (it doesn't always have to be dark and angsty) and I smiled the whole way though!

All this being said, I really enjoyed this book and am hoping Porter (a single dad who makes minor appearances in this book) will be the star of the next one! I have a feeling I'll fall hopelessly in love with him!

I loved all the sassiness between Drew and Winston, as well as sexual chemistry. Drew is a single mom, and Winston is the guy they underestimate. I rooted for these two from start to finish.

"I hate Drew Woods. But not because I don’t like her. I hate her because I do like her…and she won’t let me have her."

Oh goodness... Teagan does it again.
I really thought, after the first book, things would get repetitive or I'd just lose interest like it usually happens when I read the rest of a book series. But, wow, how wrong I was. This one was amazing! I really could feel everything and really felt for both Winston and Drew. God, the things these two went through...
Anyway, Drew is Wren's best friend, from the first book, and Winston is Wren's brother. They all met when Drew went to work at a pizzeria that was owned by Wren and Winstons' dad. Wren and Drew became best friends instantly and Winston became her enemy just as fast. But all of it had a reason behind it and it was amazing to figure these two out.
I loved reading this story and I just can't wait for the next one!! This series is quickly becoming a favorite of mine, for sure.

I Knead You Tonight is the second book in Teagan's Slice series and can easily be read as a standalone. For someone who apparently reads books mid-series without realizing it (moron, I know), I can honestly say Teagan does a great job of writing standalones within series but also makes you want to go back and read about the other couples in their own books.

I really enjoyed Drew and Winston's story. They both are stubborn and set in their ways. But it's Winston's best kept "secret" is what drives him to help out Drew when she least expects. Drew doesn't like asking for help or taking handouts but this time, she has no choice.

Teagan does a nice job of delivering this push and pull story with lots of sexual tension and hilarious dialogue. I love the interactions between Drew and Winston along with the nice additions from Wren and Foster (couple from book one).

I Knead You Tonight is very fast and easy read that will have you loving this series immediately.

If there's one thing I know about a Teagan Hunter book, it's that I will love it!

The snarky, playful banter is back in I Knead You Tonight (and seriously, she has the BEST book titles) with Drew & Winston. The teaser at the end of A Pizza My Heart had me choking on my pizza because I needed Drew & Winston's story delivered in 30 minutes or less. However, Teagan needed time to finish the book so I was left (im)patiently waiting to read what I knew would be an explosive story between these two. And Teagan did NOT disappoint!

Winston is everything I wanted in this book and so much more. He's a smartass, jerk who deep down wants to be so much more. Drew is a BALLIN' single mom who works her ass off to provide for her baby. I liked seeing a self-sufficient female who struggled accepting the help of those closest to her, but knew when it was the right thing to do for her son.

I loved everything about this book. Getting to see their interactions with each other and baby Riker were always exciting because you never knew what to expect from the mouths of these characters LOL. One of my favorite characters, Simon (Wren & Winston's dad) is just as amazing as ever!

Teagan Hunter's books never fail to make me smile and laugh. Her way with words and banter is superb and quite honestly, unmatched. These characters are the genuine kind you want to sit around and drink a beer with...over a slice of pizza, naturally.

I'm hoping we get a book about Sullivan (Sully) because I am intrigued by this mysterious surfer and need to know more!

4/5 Stars 🌟 ▪▪ read in kindle unlimited ▪▪

20200302-215101

▪▪▪ She’s a bitch to me, so I’m a dick right back. It’s how we work, how we’ve always worked. Why mess up a good thing? ▪▪▪

Ugh I'm so obsessed with this series and these character's. This is book 2 in the slice series and is about Drew and Winston who we met in book 1.

Drew is a single mother to 3 month old Riker. She's trying to make ends meet and provide a better homelife for her son than she had growing up.

Winston seems to have it easy. He works at his dads pizzeria, has his own home, makes time for his passion photography and tends to do whatever he wants when he wants.

The only thing they have in common is that they both hate each other. Or so it seems.

▪▪▪ I’m starting to believe I’m trapped in a parallel universe or something because I can’t seem to keep my hands off Winston. I want to touch him, not just punch him. I want to be around him. Want to argue with him. Laugh with him. Simply sleep next to him. I just want to…be with him. It’s…weird, yet exciting. And so fucking scary. ▪▪▪

I loved these two so much. They are constantly butting heads, both just as stubborn as each other and both just as misunderstood as each other. They both have their own issues they are dealing with and are constantly pushing each other but it comes from a place that is so deeply caring. I loved their banter and their fire. They were both fiesty as well as sweet and every moment spent with Riker was so precious.

I was intrigued about Drew and Winston’s story while reading “A Pizza My heart” and at the beginning of this book i thought i will like it but towards the end both of the characters annoyed me. Their relationship was based on Sex and i didnt see a bond between them, they were annoyed with each other till 80% of the book and it was like all they did was push each other. I wanted more Ryker and Winston scenes cuz since its a single parent romance there should be a bond/ relationship between the other character and the baby but I really didnt see any. 😬 i think i like Wren and Foster more and their book was not that serious, it was light and funny but this book is more depressing, all Drew and Winston do is argue. Its really serious and it was not funny at all. I dont know whats with Wren and Drew but they really seem to struggle to acknowledge their feelings for the guys, Drew didnt want to accept her love to Winston and just kept saying that their relationship is a no string attached, only sex but she also wanted Winston to change. I really dont like confused characters, Winston on the other hand is a grown ass man but behaves like a Child. 😩😬 I didnt see Love from Drew’s side maybe cuz all she did was Hate on Winston and fight with him. 🙄 i hope the next book is better.

Shoutout to all the single moms and dads out there! Y’all are the real MVPS!!

And shoutout to @teaganhunterwrites for writing yet another amazing RomCom!

I literally just eat up these books! Drew and Winston are amazing together and I was so happy to see Winston in a new light.

And Drew! Ugh I’ve loved her since “A Pizza my Heart” and her being a mom and all her struggles, but also being strong and there for her son made me love her even more.

Winston is an unlikely hero and I’m be shocked of he doesn’t have you swooning, I mean yes there are moments I wanted to hit him upside the head but still I was all heart eyes emoji.

And let’s not forgot Sully! I can’t wait to read Sullivan’s story. He’s just absolutely perfect.

This was compulsively readable, had some sweet romantic moments, and some good banter, but it ended up being just ok for me. The characters were a little more crass than I generally like and it kind of brought down my overall enjoyment. I also didn't really like Drew. I felt like she was never called out for her reverse snobbery when it came to why she "hated" Winston and she didn't really take responsibility for the fact that he was only mean to her in response to her being mean to him. While I did like the sweet moments between them, they were mostly a dysfunctional couple and were a little hard to root for. However, by the end they both grew a lot and I liked that.

I Knead You Tonight was an entertaining addition to the Slice series, and I enjoyed Drew and Winston’s enemies-to-lovers story. I usually love this trope, but for some reason the constant back-and-forth bickering between Drew and Winston was frustrating and annoying at times, and I just couldn’t get fully invested in the storyline and characters. With that being said, I loved Teagan Hunter’s writing style and sense of humor, and I’ll definitely be checking out the next standalone in the Slice series, Doughn’t Let Me Go.

This is the second book in the Slice series. I really enjoy reading this enemies to lovers slash single parent slash small town contemporary romance. This is the first book i have read from Teagan and I very happily say that it will definitely not be the last. Teagan has a way of writing an interesting romcom with actually good man. For a change, I read a male character who wasn’t flawled and all, don’t get me wrong I love reading flawed male hero’s story but Winston did a number on me. And dreww, my feisty baby, she’s so strong and confident. Never backs down, always ready for a fight. So yeah, I’m picking up a pizza my heart soooon!!

Quick and easy

Light, quick, and sexy, this had the exact vibe I've come to expect from Hunter's work, and it hit the spot without being overly memorable. It's a great mix of tropes, featuring a single mom of a brand new baby, her best friend's obnoxious stoner brother, a temporary roommates situation, and some enemies to lovers tension. The most interesting part to me was that the hero wasn't the usual type - he smokes weed to manage his pain and doesn't hold down a steady job, so from the outside looking in, he's not the type that you'd expect to be good with a newborn baby. Add in the tension from their past, and these two weren't overly excited to be living together. That forced proximity was a win, as was the slow reveal behind our hero's motivations. It's a lighthearted, easygoing story and one that is significantly shorter than most books out there these days (250 pages), so I had no trouble bingeing it in one sitting.

The story follows Drew, a new mom who has been struggling since the birth of her baby. It was an unexpected pregnancy and the father turned out to be a loser, so she's still dealing with the weight of her new financial obligations. When her best friend's brother, Winston, sees Drew struggling one night, he insists that she move in to his place until she gets back on her feet. Though the two have never seemed to get along and Drew is unsure of having a slacker who is constantly high around her baby, the situation turns out better than either could've anticipated. And while Drew is repulsed by certain aspects of Winston's personality, sharing a space with him ratchets up the sexual tension between them. If she's going to be temporarily living with the guy, then temporarily sleeping with him might not be the worst idea, but getting to know a different side of Winston complicates that.

Will I remember the plot of this book a few months from now? No. Did I enjoy it as I was reading? Yes. The story itself is pretty straightforward, other than peeling back the layers of Winston. Drew wasn't the nicest to him when she moved in, but I could see why she'd act that way. He doesn't give a great first impression, and I'm sure witnessing years of his slacker side didn't help. For that reason, things are definitely "just" sex (at least for her) when they do cross that line. Winston made for an interesting character, and I liked getting to know him better. The story probably would've benefited from a longer page count, though it's fascinating to see how trends have changed in just the last few years - this was a pretty normal page count back then. It also made for a good palette cleanser read in between longer and heavier books, with a light, sexy storyline that absolutely flew by.

Audio note: So I actually bought the audiobook because I love Alex Kydd's voice, but he's clearly been working on his skills in the four years since this was produced, because he was the worst part about it, lol. Not terrible, but he plays up Winston's stoner vibes with a nasally voice that was probably right for the character but not overly appealing. That took some getting used to, but it smoothed out somewhere along the way as Winston's character showed some growth. So maybe he was doing it right? If you want a fantastic Kydd performance, check out Becka Mack's books - he's got a smokin' hot, "tortured playboy" voice in those. As for Emma Wilder, no complaints there. She does an excellent job and gives a consistent performance whenever I hear her. The audio was perfect for bingeing, with a runtime of under 7 hours. I think it definitely enhanced my reading experience, and I'm glad that I listened to the audio.

Here’s the post I wanted to post yesterday, but I needed a pizza box haha.

Knead You Tonight by Tegan Hunter is the second book in the Slice series. We are following Drew she’s recently become a single mom and is trying to make ends meet while working at Slice. Winston also works at Slice, but is often seen as the lazy stoner who doesn’t do anything. They hate each other until suddenly they realize maybe their feelings might be changing.

❤️Review❤️

I really liked the first book in this series and how it left us knowing this romance would be following. I really loved their slow burn of their hate to love relationship. It made it believable in how they were conflicted in their feelings. I was happy to finally clear up this issue of Winston being a pot head because I really don’t love drugs in books. This series is a cute, simple, small town, and I’m excited to see how it continues. This is another series that you can find on Kindle Unlimited as you make your summer reading plans.

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved this one! I was really drawn to Winston in the last book, so I was really excited to read about him and Drew. Their banter and chemistry was off the charts. It made it such a fun book that I pretty much flew right through it. Seeing how Winston cares for not only Drew but her son, and wanting better for himself because of them...it was all kinds of sexy. There are so many great moments between them. Oh I can’t forget about Simon, he just cracks me up. Busting balls left and right, what a great dad. The entertainment was strong with this one. I ended it with a great big smile on my face!
