I actually really loved this for the most part. I’m fully onboard with damaged heroes going to therapy before/when they start to pursue a relationshipI actually really loved this for the most part. I’m fully onboard with damaged heroes going to therapy before/when they start to pursue a relationship and I’m endlessly glad that we actually got some representation for that and also for communication within a relationship. It was super healthy and really refreshing. In saying that though ... there was so much sexual tension and angst in the first 70% that the really fast turnaround and change of heart from Arlo felt incredibly abrupt and I felt like I was reading a different book by the end. I love a good happy ending, but this would have been a home run if we actually got to see his emotional progress throughout their relationship. There’s nothing wrong with a little drama and with how intense Arlo was in the beginning, I found that by the end I was craving that side of him again. I just wasn’t a fan of how he finished as a completely different character with zero remaining traits that he began with. I love Meghan Quinn’s writing and I love her books but I ALWAYS seem to have an issue with the endings in some form or another. ...more

Still not a fan of the girl hate thing it gets kinda tiring after a while but ooooh boy this was A LOT. So many things going on to the point it was pushing ridiculous but it somehow worked??? I feel like there was so much trauma here and while most of it was handled quite well, I don’t think Cole really got the resolution he needed. That boy is fucked emotionally and he needed more than a quick scene where he pours his heart out and then there’s barely anything after that besides a quick convo with his family. His entire personality was shaped around his guilt and trauma and the belief that he’s not good enough and I just think this would have been better if we got more redemption for him instead of all the unnecessary stuff like the girl fights and drama. I did REALLY like this and I liked the way the sensitive topics were handled, especially on Sawyers behalf. Solid entertainment and one of the better books I’ve read in the last few weeks which is a damn relief because I swear it’s just been disappointment after disappointment. Anyway, I’m rambling. Basically: loved this but wish there was more focus on Cole’s issues. ...more
Didn’t love the whole girl hate thing. I’m not about that when it’s for no reason except jealousy. Why can’t us girls all just be nice to each other aDidn’t love the whole girl hate thing. I’m not about that when it’s for no reason except jealousy. Why can’t us girls all just be nice to each other and hold hands and sometimes kiss goddamnit why is that so hard? Anyway, in saying that, it DID make for some decent drama but it was kinda unnecessary with everything else going on. I cried a bit. The feud between Jace and Dylan was goooood. Great content. Loved the drama. However, I’m also a little unsatisfied with the ending and considering how everything went down, it all felt a bit out of place. This would have been four stars if it wasn’t for that probably. Regardless, this was still hella entertaining and I liked it a lot. I love bully romances give me ALLLLL of them....more
