Critics Consensus

Michael Keaton's devious poltergeist still has plenty of juice left in this madcap return to form for Tim Burton, marrying charming practical effects and ghoulish gags to provide a fun fun time.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk There’s a resultant clumsiness to it that makes the traditional zaniness of the whole project feel telegraphed. Rated: 2/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Amy Nicholson FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) This sequel has so much plot and moving pieces that I wouldn't even say come together -- they really just collide in the end. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Joshua Rivera The Atlantic The sequel is, in many ways, exactly what it looks like: a revival of a decades-old movie with plenty of cultural stock to cash in on, happy to play the hits. But it is also an artist’s reflection on his journey from ghastly pariah to mall-goth staple. Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Douglas Davidson Elements of Madness Unfortunately, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is so wrapped up in denial that it’s a long road toward acceptance, leaving audiences with too many ideas and not enough of them executed to a point of satisfaction. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Abhishek Srivastava The Times of India This film not only delivers laughs but also proves that even after all these years, Burton’s magic is still enchanting. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Eileen Jones The Jacobin After a dreary sojourn through several terrible films, director Tim Burton’s delightful new Beetlejuice joint proves that you can go home again.
