Godkiller (Fallen Gods, #1)

I couldn’t care about the book, its story or its characters. At all. Not in the slightest. Not one bit. It’s a very amateur novel for a publishing house like Harper Voyage. I didn’t want to read Godkiller but it was the pick of the month in the book club I’m in so I thought "just 300 pages so it is not a big deal". Unfortunately, it proved to be a real struggle to finish. The only interesting thing about it was that prologue.
It didn't manage to hold my attention, I had a difficult time reading it, and I couldn’t connect even remotely to the characters. My friends liked it at least. Unfortunately, I felt like I wasted my time. I know many disagree but I’m tired of being sorry when I don’t like a book. Or well, sorry in general. I rarely give 1 star ratings anymore always leaving the book some benefit of the doubt but I’m tired of doing that even. This book wasn’t my thing. It might be yours and if so great! But in all cases, I only recommend it if you want some basic fantasy. It is a waste though, the diversity and the inclusion were great. The MC had a disability + several LGBT characters.

Thank you! Not having any motivation to write 😥

Thank you for your honest review! I’m up to page 42 and your review has given me the confidence to DNF! I think it’s a book you either really like, or not… sadly I’m in the “not” category :)
I really struggled with the middle and almost DNF'd many times. I thought the worldbuilding was really interesting but it was too much like the Witcher for me and sooooooo slow.
The prologue was so good and made the book look so promising. Everything that followed after that was disappointing.
I’m glad I’ve found someone else who feels the way I do. I was so excited to read it, but once I got past the prologue, it was a real struggle to read. It took my 3 weeks to read the first 63 pages, then I finally gave in and DNF’d it.
Good lord I am regretting starting this book. I will finish it Last 40 pages/ There were times I had fallen asleep while thinking I had been reading this book. I couldn't connect with the characters or the convoluted story lines/explanations and all those italics. The 'map' was crap and given there was a journey..I hate it when places are mentioned and they aren't on the map. .I didn't care about the back stories and the 'gods' weren't really gods were they? They were more spirits. And the different points of view weren't really different. I have the second book but I don't think I will be reading it. Very let down...
