It’s also reDNF 51% There’s not a whole lot to this book it’s a novella of decent length and is a dark and dirty contemporary retelling of Snow White. It’s also reverse harem and comes with a massive list of triggers. On paper this definitely should have been right up my street but unfortunately there was absolutely zero plot and I didn’t feel any connection to any of the characters involved.
It wasn’t the content here that was the issue that I had no problem with and this definitely had some dark depraved stuff but I just felt like it was mostly there for the shock value.
Also I know this is fiction so i do hold it to a different standard and try to suspend my disbelief but Noelle’s behaviour was just so unrealistic and didn’t make a lick of sense to me. She basically awakens restrained and naked and she’s all gung-ho about these three total psycho’s who are practically strangers railing her into the middle of next week.
All of the religious scripture was also doing my nut in and I’d basically had enough I wasn’t enjoying myself and I was over half way through so I couldn’t see that changing so this one’s unfortunately going to be a DNF. If you do want to give it a go be aware it’s a total smutfest....more

This second book focuses on Jason’s cousin Trevor who we meet briefly in book one. Trevor has somewhat of a complex when it comes to his cousin believing he doesn’t quite measure up hence when he finally chooses a partner to share his life with he wants her to be perfect. When he encounters his tenant Zoe she is the complete opposite to all of his usual conquests she’s dumpy and plain and carrying some extra pounds. After he manages to insult her he is racked with guilt and when she mentions having to give up her tenancy after losing her job he finds himself suggesting an alternative working for the family’s construction firm as the office manager/secretary. He also employs her as his general dogsbody so cleaning chores and also stocking his bottomless fridge as Jason has obviously inherited the family food obsession just like his cousin.
So Trevor at the beginning of this came across as a bit of an ass he doesn’t stand up for Zoe when others make fun of her though he does internally wince. He also sees her as not hot enough for him believing her lack of looks will reflect negatively on him in short he’s ashamed to admit even initially to even himself that he’s attracted to her. His expectations on who he should date and then marry and his list of ridiculous requirements for said female the only thing he can have seem to focus on and Haley definitely doesn’t fit the mould. I definitely wanted to rip Trevor a new one.
He fights his attraction tooth and nail clinging to his idea of the perfect counterpart on his arm and in his life. Zoe by contrast is sweet funny and after a time in life that has ground her down finally getting back to who she once was. She’s a foster kid so as such is very self sufficient. She attempts to brush off the hurtful remarks she overhears but can’t help being cut deep allowing it to influence her behaviour around food causing her to then resort to drastic measures thinking herself lesser when really she’s perfect as she is and anyone who can’t accept that fact doesn’t really deserve her including Trevor.
When the two make a mutually beneficial agreement friends with benefits Zoe because she is not ready for a relationship and Trevor well he says the same but he really still wants his perfect ideal and feels this will get her out of his system well things start to change for both of them. Behind close doors they can’t keep there hands off each other but away from home it’s business as usual as Trevor keeps his arrangement with Zoe hidden from all else.
There’s a few road bumps in the road a massive epiphany for Trevor and Zoe and plenty of red hot passion. When Trevor finally realises how badly he’s messed up and how screwed up his behaviour has been towards the only girl he’s ever cared about he then does a complete u-turn attempting to convince Zoe of his feelings which obviously she’s sceptical of especially considering the circumstances. Trevor is actually quite clueless all things considered. Now he’s stuck trying to convince the woman he loves that she’s his entire world and that he’s genuine. Zoe literally snuck up on Trevor she doesn’t match even one single tick on his stupid list but she’s the one he now ultimately wants if only he can convince her of this fact.
This was another five star read for me and again these two have such a connection even with all of Trevor’s stupidity. I did give Trevor some leeway basically because of his complete cluelessness at heart he’s not a bad guy just blinkered and initially a tad thoughtless. I liked that this wasn’t a rehash of the prior book and that it felt distinct. We also get to catch up with Jason and Haley another bonus and get treated to another excellent epilogue. I totally recommend this friends with benefits neighbours romance it was a blast.
