Finally realizing this story was NOT set in the Greek isles (bummer), I finally got into the story about the MCs. However it was too short (that took me three days to read!) to fully engage my emotions. Too superficial.

(Like Romeo, at least in my version.) Don't want to spoil it but it reminds me of a Haiku poem: short, to the point, says what it needs to and leaves without a backward glance. Brava!!

This is the story of 24 year old Amber, a sexually-naive Scottish lass recently graduated from Journalism school whose first job is in New York City. THIS will be her "break out" year! She makes a list on her laptop (because this is how she does things) of twelve things she' d like to do outside of her Comfort Zone. One for each month? Maybe. More important is the time limit: her 25th birthday. She names this list after a dress color and how it makes her feel. No one knows of this list not even her flatmate, a model living more out of a suitcase.
These events just seem to "fall into her lap" as she's not hanging around bars. The first few encounters are with a colleague as are most of them. Each time, she trades up and learns a bit more about herself, her likes and her dislikes as well. When she finally joins the "Mile High Club" things begin to take a turn. For Better? For Worse? Read and make up your own mind.
I highly recommend this book. Especially romance seekers!

I felt I was back in time with the jewel heist just having happened. It was a bit of a hoot (to me!) the thief suspected is named The Leopard as I thought of The Pink Panther as I read this. (Too serious a book for that nonsense though!) I was very aware of the ups/downs while reading this book and though my reading was slow- my Life got in the way- I'd definitely recommend this book. Especially if you like strong females in a lead role. As a jewelry designer in the 50's, Ms. Thorpe was a leader, I feel. True, it's just fiction but it had to start somewhere, hmm?

(I blame the entrance of Joan, the mc's mother, who was just so frigging "so" that I took my eye off the proverbial ball.) If you like intrigue and little towns, you gotta read this! I was not thrilled with the surgeon. A snobby asshat imo. I did like the mechanic but the story needed to be longer for the L word to be uttered. (I'dI was not thrilled with the surgeon.
