So sweet. Mikey is just a precious sweetie and deserves all the happiness. His father is a complete sob and deserves to rot. I really liked Mikey and Tiller's relationship, from boss/employee, to friends, to friends/lovers, to so much more. I enjoyed the progression of their relationship and seeing how their feelings changed and grew.
Not much to say about Michael Dean's narration, other than it's fine....more
You Had Me at Happy Hour is much more of a melancholy read, definitely not the romcom I was expecting. Not that I have an issue with that, not at 3.5*
You Had Me at Happy Hour is much more of a melancholy read, definitely not the romcom I was expecting. Not that I have an issue with that, not at all. It just kind of took me by surprise. But I actually really liked the feel of this book and the topics it dealt with. I think those were handled very well by TJ. Even with all the heaviness there were some sweet, lighthearted moments between Julian and Greg.
Neither Julian nor Greg expect anything to come of the no strings attached relationship they find themselves in, they both have too much going on to really give it their all. Isn't that how it always is, though, when it comes to a good fwb? I enjoyed both Julian and Greg's journeys through the course of the book. Although I could have done without that third act frustrationess from Greg. I mean, come on dude! But overall I did like this story, even with it's challenges. ...more

Cursed Boys and Broken Hearts is a messy, complicated, endearing, My favorite Adam Sass book since Surrender Your Sons, I loved Grant's story so much!
Cursed Boys and Broken Hearts is a messy, complicated, endearing, big-hearted, coming of age tale and it had me feeling all the emotions. I loved everything about this story, from Grant and Ben, to the Wishing Rose and the "curse", to Aunt Ro and Uncle Paul, to Vero Roseto and Grant's family, and even Hutch. I loved seeing Grant's growth over the course of the summer. There was a lot he had to work through, and while saving Vero Roseto he also "saved" himself in a way.
This book really did make me feel all kinds of things. Even before I read the acknowledgements, to me it felt like this was Adam's most personal book. While I really only know him through social media, (although I did finally get to meet him in person!), it wasn't hard to "see" him in this story....more

Wild at Heart was a sweet, heartwarming, second chance romance. There's a lot of unresolved feelings and history between Sully and Porter, when Porter returns to Sullivan Ranch after being gone for over a decade. Neither one has ever gotten over the other but they need time to work through what caused Porter to leave- he still carries a pretty big chip on his shoulder.
My heart hurt for Porter, for the life he had lived and the hand he was dealt. While he was still in love with Sully he wasn't able to let himself open up fully at first, and not just because Sully wasn't out to anyone but Porter. But Sully never gave up on him, showing him love and care.
I really liked seeing these two find their way back together. They deserved their happily ever after, after everything that had kept them apart. ...more

Forbidden in the Falls was such a sweet and heartwarming addition to the Devon Falls series. I fell in love with Devon Falls when I read Fauxmance in the Falls and I have an even deeper appreciation for that quirky little town and its inhabitants now.
I really liked both Sam and Malachi. They each were dealing with some heavy stuff and it made for a sometimes heart-tugging read. Sam, trying to reconcile his feelings in regards to the death of his husband, and Malachi with his feelings of not belonging, of not being good enough, of never feeling like he'll be accepted for who he is.
While on the surface these two seem like complete opposites, and not just because of the age difference, they were kind of perfect for each other. Malachi needed someone like Sam in his life- someone to take care of him, to show him he was worthy, to show him he was important. And Sam needed all the love Malachi had to offer.
Even though there was some push and pull, there wasn't a lot of drama or angst with Sam and Malachi. They both needed to work on/through their feelings- for each other and for everything they were dealing with. I liked that this story never really got heavy or overly emotional, which it very easily could have. Forbidden in the Falls was a sweet and tender love story.
I'm definitely looking forward to more in this series!

Canto Contigo was a highly engaging read, with all the messiness you'd expect in a book about a teenager. Especially when that teen is Rafie. Oh Rafie, dealing with so, so much. Uprooted his senior year of high school to a new school, still reeling from the death of his abuelo, and finding out his almost hook-up from last year is the lead vocalist of the school's Mariachi group- a part he fully expected to win himself.
This book takes us on quite a journey, as Rafie learns to navigate everything life has thrown at him. It's messy and complicated, sweet and heartfelt, and quite and adventure.
At the end of the blurb for this book is this statement "Canto Contigo is a love letter to Mexican culture, family and legacy, the people who shape us, and allowing ourselves to forge our own path." And I truly believe it is....more

Didn't quite get there. This had some good potential, but just didn't quite get there for me. I never really connected with either character. Chelsea was pretty immature throughout the entire book, and her friends were not great. Tara had a compelling story, due to her childhood. There was part of the story that was pretty predictable, and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I was just never fully all-in with this book, even though I kind of enjoyed the romance between Chelsea and Tara. There were some good scenes with them, but not enough to make this one stand out....more

On ode to dogs. Hideaway felt more like an ode to dogs than a romance between humans. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs, but it got to be a bit much. This could have been a really great second chance romance, as Phoebe and Taylor had a lot of history as children/teens, except they were both kind of irritating in their own ways. It wasn't very memorable, other than how much dogs played a part in the story. The narrators were fine....more

I'm really trying to not let the narration color my feelings on the story itself, but it's hard. I don't say this to be mean, but the narrator did not do this book any favors, sadly. He sounded too old for these characters and made Lucas sound like a big bumbling idiot. I have the rest of the series in audio but I think I'm going to have to switch to the ebook, I don't think I could handle hours of listening to his voicing of Trevor.
There was a lot of back and forth between Cody and Lucas, which was understandable given their differences. And sometimes Cody got on my nerves with the way he treated Lucas, who was a little too precious for words. But overall the story was entertaining, and I enjoyed the ending and epilogue....more

This Day Changes Everything would make a wonderful movie.
I really enjoyed this story. It was melancholy and heartbreaking at times, especially when we were in Leo's point of view. But it also sweet and fun, and kept me engaged. I loved being along for Leo and Abby's journey through NYC. It was wonderful to see them both enjoy their time in the city, while also learning about themselves. This trip was, unexpectedly, just what they needed. It gave them a chance to just "be", something neither of them really had in their small home towns.
This is one of the best YA books I've read about finding yourself. It's hard being a teen, and when you're even a little bit different than the "norm", it can be even harder. And I think Edward Underhill did a terrific job of showing that, with Leo and Abby's story....more

But it was worth the reread, it's a sweet second chance romance and those are always a favorite. Plus, this one took place around Christmas in a small town- what could be better! There's also an adorable child, a wonderful secondary cast of characters, and two people realizing they were meant to be!...more

Terrific fake couple to real love story! Out of all the books in this series, I think this one, of any of them, could be read as a standalone. It was a great fake couple to real love story. There was a little drama and a tiny bit of angst, and a really wonderful second chance! I loved the epilogue!

While I did enjoy this book, the suspense part of the story was a little predictable, in that I was able to guess who the bad guy was pretty quickly. I didn't feel like it was quite up to par with many of Ms. Foster's other romantic suspense stories, as far as how "meaty" the storyline was, when it came to the suspense. I think there was some missed potential with Memphis and the "why" of him wanting to own the campsite. And with Diah and her past, there was just something missing there for me as well.
The romance between Diah and Memphis was sweet, if not the typical instalove I've come to expect from Ms. Foster. There was some back and forth as these two tried to learn to trust each other, but thankfully no real drama or angst. I liked how Memphis gave Diah space- he could tell she didn't trust easily and I appreciated how he handled things with her. Dia didn't have a lot of good men in her life so it took her a bit to warm up to Memphis, but once she did, she was all in.
I'm not sure if this is the last book in this series, since there are no other brothers, but I do wonder if there's going to be a book featuring a couple of character from this one, or if what we got in this book is it for them. We shall see!...more

I believe this is marketed as a standalone but I really think you need to read Season of Love, Helena Greer's debut novel, before this one. You'll definitely have a better understanding of some of the major characters who play important parts in this story.
That said, I enjoyed this book more than I did SoL. And it made me look at one of the main players in SoL, who also plays a big part in this book, a lot differently. But I really liked the two main characters in this book, Levi and Hannah. I liked getting to see things from both their points of view, as well as the flashbacks. These two had so much history- most of it good, until it wasn't. I'm so glad Levi came back to Carrigan's, they really, really needed to work things out and to make things right between them. There was just too much good and wonderful between them, for it to all end.
