You can tell he's hurting a bit and trapped in the lifestyle not sure how to break the cycle of meaningless one-night stands and find something real. Especially when those hook ups end up in photos being sold and leaked. This is where Seb is at the start of Thorned Heart. Enter Thorne Young, the bands manager who has secretly been in love with Seb for years. But because men are men they don't talk or express their feelings super sure that the other couldn't possibly feel the same. Fortunately on a band vacation in the wilds of Montana there is a breakthrough and a super sweet story of these two finding their HEA. This is a book that can be read as a standalone - though you do get a bit more if you know Cash's story first - but overall Finley does a great job at creating a rich and well developed cast in such a short read. While there are times I wish that this had been longer Thorned Heart is filled with all the happy heart-achy feels that I love in a story. This was a happy sigh inducing quick read and I loved every word. ...more

Eden Finley is an author on my autobuy list and I was so excited to see that she would be writing in the True North world and Headstrong did not disappoint! Headstrong stars Rainn, who is a grumpy gus character who is most defiantly not in the alphabet mafia and Whit who is sunshine personified and who is also out and proud. And before you think that this is a gay for you story it is not. What I loved about Headstrong, and Eden Finley in general, is how she shows that there is no right or wrong time to discover new things about ones sexuality. Yes there are some who know early in life and then there are others who don't realize until they are much older.
As with pretty much every other Eden Finley book once I started Headstrong I couldn't put it down. I was so invested in this story! And I also loved seeing brief cameos from Tanner and Molly who first appear Garrett Leigh's Heartscape. They really help connect the books in the Vino & Veritas series but also fit in seamlessly so there is no confusion to the reader if they haven't read that book yet. Each book in the True North expanded universe can be read as a standalone but for those that read all the book you get these nice little easter eggs that really help to flesh out the world.
I loved this story. Like its hard to put into words just how much I loved this story. I really loved Rainn's journey and self-discovery as he started to fall for Whit. I loved how these two really bonded and grew over the story....and while they are flawed and had issues they were able to work them out and become better people as a result. The epilogue scene also made me laugh out loud and if you know me you know that I usually despise epilogues as they add no value to the overall story. So Finley has written an epilogue unicorn!
Its really hard to put my love of this story into words but Headstrong might be my favorite Eden Finley book to date (and probably will be until I read her next book) truly she is an author that you need to have on your to read lists. She writes some really great stories that stay with you long after the final page. ...more

I loved FI received this book in a subscription box and I wasn't sure what to expect from it but once I started it I had a hard time putting it down. I loved Felipe's story and think that he's the story of character people can easily relate to - he is dealing with so much and its nice to see that he goes to therapy even as he's still shy and keeps to himself - which is understandable as he gets bullied in school because he is fat. But when Caio comes to stay with him and his mom over school break things start to change. Felipe and Caio used to be childhood friends but time and anxieties had them growing apart. Due to some forced proximity they are forced to talk and they settle back into being friends and maybe even something more than friends. Here the Whole Time is a slow burn story filled with humor and angst and all those heat-achy feels that I love. I loved watching Felipe come into his own and learn to accept and love himself for the great and amazing human he is...to come out of his shell and make friends. This isn't some magical story where the MC ends up skinny and transformed with a makeover and his mental health issues magically cured. This is a story of learning to love oneself for who they are and because others love them for who they are. Its beautifully told and I can't recommend it enough. ...more

Goal Lines & First Times was absolutely adorable! I love the you've got mail - meet over text/email/unknown identity trope - add to that a slight hate to love and some opposites attract and you have a story that hits all the right notes for me. I loved this queer questioning story and how Eden Finley and Saxon James tackled it. Loved the slow burn as Seth and Cohen got to know each other through a dating app and then over text. Then all the delicious angst as they would come so close to discovering the others secret identity and then just miss it until eventually they didn't. This was a delightful story that I couldn't put down. It made my heart ache in all the best possible ways. I fell hard for these boys and was so invested in their Happily Ever After. I love all the rich detail in this universe that Finely and James have created as they pepper in cameos and storylines from other books in the series. It always just rounds out the world and makes it seem more real. I adored this book and can't recommend it and this series enough - just a feel good read that is often needed in this dumpster fire of a world. :-)...more

More to come.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ Firefly meets Amazing Race in this fun space race story that is a story of friendship, galactic conspiracy and a race to the throne all in one. Alyssa is the niece of an Emperor but she is in no way wanting to lead the Empire. That is until her Uncle dies and initiates the Crownchase which hasn't been enacted in hundreds of years. This book had so much of what I love in a story...there was humor, there was a reluctant and flawed heroine, there was friendship, diversity, and even some slow burn romance. I laughed out loud at many moments and was also on the edge of my seat throughout most of the book. Crownchasers was well written and even though its only January I know this is a contender for my favorite read of year.....I can have book 2 now please?!?...more
I was a little worried going into Roommate that I would be really lost as I've fallen behind in my reading of the True North books. But I needn't haveI was a little worried going into Roommate that I would be really lost as I've fallen behind in my reading of the True North books. But I needn't have worried as Bowen did a great job at giving the reader all the information that a reader would need to know in order to know people and events in the world and how they connected to them. While I knew there were certain pairings that happened in books I never felt like I missing anything when reading. This story was very focused on Kieran and Roderick and it did such a good job at having enough side action to be realistic but not too much to take away from the main story. And let me just say - I *loved* this story! I loved the history of these two characters and I loved their journey as they went from definitely not friends to finding their HEA. There was tension and drama but it was all realistic and not the something that could have easily been solved by a two second conversation. I feel hard for these boys and their story and I rushed through this one. I could have done without the epilogue but it wasn't as terrible as most epilogues usually are. If felt too much like an afterthought as a way to introduce the True North world series, Vino and Veritas, and wish that this had been woven more organically into the main story. But other than that I love watching these characters journey - they both were hurting so much at start for different reasons and just loved seeing their bond and romance develop. Highly recommend.
I loved a good fake relationship story and that is the part of the synopsis that attracted me to this book. What I didn't expect was the heaviness of I loved a good fake relationship story and that is the part of the synopsis that attracted me to this book. What I didn't expect was the heaviness of it as one of the MCs is dealing with depression and even thoughts of suicide. But I liked how the author dealt with this storyline and thought it was handled well - showing that there was no magical cure and that it took a combination of things to help keep the darkness away. I also liked the bond between Tate and Endre and how their relationship developed over the course of the story. I didn't think it odd that they kept saying Tate was so much older than Endre when there was only a few years difference (33 and 27). And I also wasn't a fan of their unexpected connection or in the how the character of Jackson fit in. Though in some ways I can see why Jackson did the things he did it also felt like a betrayal of the long friendship he shared with Endre. Overall, I enjoyed Flirting with Fire but its not my favorite in the series. I enjoyed the cameos from previous characters and felt that things were resolved a little quickly. However, this was a fast read with likeable characters and so I do recommend it. ...more
