PERFECT!!! I loved this book so much, both the hero and the heroine were absolutely and utterly perfect!
It's a hard review to write since the author wants to keep the main characters on the hush-hush, but let me tell you now it was one of the most swoon-worthy books I have read in a long time. So many feelings, I can't even begin to tell you how perfect this heroine was for our hero, she was exactly what he needed. And he was so, so adorable...
To describe this story in a few words - delicious, expectant, awkward, sexy, funny, swoony, and cute!
One of my top reads this year, and my fave in the series!
The Learning Hours is part of a series of Standalone Sports Romance novels. Told from dual POV.

Oh my Lord! I have been in a bit of a book slump this year, I have read so many books that feel the same and are so forgetful that I was starting to lose hope. I have been much braver though, and I have tried many new authors that I haven't read before, and it's been great to find so much talent that I was always too stuck in my ways to try before now.
When this book popped up to read on the Kindle First program, I decided to take a look at the blurb and then went for it. I then spent the next 24 hours devouring this story in between real life stuff.
OMG, I loved it! Seriously LOVED.
It's about a bookworm who see's herself as a bit of a plain Jane (her name incidentally, is Jane) and she is the complete opposite of her older sister, who is outgoing and adventurous, and although she loves her with all her heart, she admits to feeling jealous of always being the less attractive, less interesting, and lesser sister.
Her sister also has a business partner. His name is Caleb, he's a Southern gentleman, who she finds extremely annoying (ly hot) and when he is not off traveling the world with said sister for his job, he and Jane have some great banter going on, it's kinda like a brother/sister vibe...except it's not.
Tell Me started off light hearted, but then it just took me on a journey that I was not expecting. It was heart-wrenching, and emotional - but absolutely beautiful. The writing was exquisite, I actually can't believe I have never read anything by this author before - that is going to be rectified immediately, I can't wait to explore more books if they are anything like this one.
I would describe Tell Me as a 'Friends to Lovers' romance, but also a story of self-discovery, learning how to fight your demons, and following your dreams.

I had so many feelings, it was pure perfection for me, I loved reading between the lines and knowing how their relationship was slowly changing without either of them ever really noticing it themselves.
The book is told through Ruby's eyes, and so we see herself how she sees herself - a bit insecure, not very confident, babied by her family. But, we also see her through Aarons' eyes, but the way he interacts with her and treats her - she was perfect for him.

I was absolutely consumed by this series, for 8 straight days, I lived and breathed these characters and devoured their epic, but also tragic and heartbreaking story. I can't remember the last time I felt so connected to a story. This book, in fact all three books, are not for everyone. This is a forbidden and angsty read, with many moments that will make you feel many sad and angry feelings, but the story is contrasted with some of the most beautiful and wonderful, fulfilling moments that I have ever had the pleasure to read in my life.
The story of Tatiana and Alexander begins in 1941 in Leningrad, and on the day that war is declared, Tatiana an innocent girl of 17, and Alexander a young soldier in the Red Army, cross paths unaware of how much their lives and future plans will change.
This book was everything to me, I loved so many things about it. I was absolutely engrossed in the setting, as although I don't read historical romance very often, this is definitely the first time I have read a book set in WW2 Russia, it was extremely eye-opening to view this important part of history from a different POV than what I have experienced before.
"I’m a soldier in the Soviet Union. I could die any minute a thousand different ways to Sunday. This might be the last minute we will have together. Don’t you want to spend that minute with me?
Tatiana may have been a young and innocent girl at the beginning, but the horrors of war and all of the loss and devastation soon ages her, but her pure and caring character was completely endearing to me. Alexander was pure Alpha Male and his fierce and protective nature was so extremely appealing to me that I forgave his moods, for he came out with some of the most beautiful words, anything could be forgiven.
Tatiana: "Why did we spend two days fighting when we could have been doing this?" Alexander: "That wasn't fighting, Tatiana. That was foreplay."
Their love for each other was beyond measure, and whilst I found some of their decisions extremely frustrating, I just had to trust in the story and experience all of the many feelings that this novel evoked in me.
The characters went through so much throughout the entire trilogy and I felt so invested in them that I am going to find it very hard to move on to another book. The Bronze Horseman is without a doubt, a top favourite that will forever live in my heart, and whilst I wasn't entirely enamoured with the second book, Tatiana and Alexander, I was completely won over again with the finale, The Summer Garden.
"Tania, you are my miracle, you know that, don’t you? You are the one God sent me to give me faith." He paused. "He sent you to redeem me, to comfort me, and to heal me— and that’s just so far,"
If you love a book that takes you on an emotional story, this is a must read - Tatiana & Alexander are by far, one of my favourite book duo ever. Top marks for the whole series, and a million stars to this, The Bronze Horseman.
The Bronze Horseman is a historical romance, and the first in the trilogy. Told from dual POV.

So many stars!! One of my top reads of the year, possibly ever!
My first read by Emma Scott, this really blew my socks off and I can without a doubt say that this book is one that I will recommend for a long time to come.
From the very first chapter I was hooked, the writing pulled me in and the characters were completely loveable and believable.
Two broken people, who find hope and happiness in each other, this story was one of forgiveness and overcoming guilt and shame in different forms.
Zelda Rossi has been living with guilt since she was a child, and when she arrives in New York City determined to sell her comic book ideas to a publisher she vows not to let her sister down and fail.
Beckett Copeland is an ex-con, and the shame of his past stops him from pursuing happiness. When he meets a beautiful woman who begs for his help, his strong need to redeem himself by helping others overpowers him, and he invites her to stay with him in his tiny apartment in Brooklyn.
"I once read that you fell in love like how you fell asleep: slowly at first and then all at once."
So many feelings in this book, I adored how they became friends, and I absolutely devoured their slow burn towards love. It was a special story and one that I will cherish forever.
A very powerful and beautiful read. I loved it completely.

I don't know what I expected when I decided to read this book, I think what caught my eye was the fact that it was based on a skinhead, which really intrigued me. The skinhead movement originated in London, so I was really interested to read about how it would be in a small American town in the 90's.
The heroine is 15, the hero 18 - and it's an intense and explicit relationship that some readers might be uncomfortable with. I, however, remember what it was like to be a 15-year-old girl, and whilst I was mildly innocent, and I wasn't an angel let's be honest, I know that many many kids my age were doing far worse than me.
The characters in this story were flawed, but so unbelievable real, and don't get me started on Knight, he's probably up there, top of the list of 'most loved psychopathic book heroes '.
"I realized as his nostrils flared that Knight was very much like a pit bull. Vicious. Loyal. Misunderstood."
This book encapsulated everything about the era, the feelings that consume teens, the horrors of high school when you are 'different' - it was just absolutely enthralling.
This book ripped me open, and I welcomed it with open arms, it was just what I needed to pull me out of a funk of 'same old, same old' reads. This series is based on the authors true life relationships, and I for one cannot wait to read all about her next ex in Speed.
What a wonderfully refreshing format, I can't recommend this enough, I loved everything about it, warts and all!
Skin is a New Adult romance, which touches on heavy subjects such as underage sex, anorexia, teenage pregnancy, and bullying. First in a new series, but can be read as a standalone.

I absolutely devoured this book, I ate it right up and i'm never letting it leave my thoughts - by far one of my favourite ever 'captive' books, and definitely in my top 5 Mafia reads!
Ghost follows an American girl named Talia, who has been kidnapped and sold to a Bulgarian arms dealer, via the Russian Vory. Her life is so miserable and full of despair, the only thing she looks forward to is the death that she has been planning ever since she arrived at her prison in the basement of her captors home.
Alexei is a top ranking Russian Vor, he is a solitary man, and one who is incapable of trusting anyone. Apart from his closest friends of which there are few, he spends most of his time holding the world at arms length. When the head of the Irish syndicate comes to him for help to find his wife's best friend, he sets himself on a mission to find the broken woman in the photo, and who he believes will be perfect for his plans.
Swapping one captor for another is terrifying for Talia, but not because her new master treats her badly, but quite the opposite. She cannot afford to have hope.
“I may not ever be able to love you,” I tell her. “But I can want you. And let there be no doubt, Solnyshko, I am keeping you.”
This book was pretty much perfect in my opinion, I have not one bad word to say about it. It was brutal, gruesome, heartbreaking, emotional, swoony, sexy, and completely authentic. There was nothing gratuitous, nor over the top, it was a fantastically well-written mafia romance that made me feel a multitude of emotions, but most of all it was such a beautiful love story, between two broken people who were perfect for each other.
I could read this all over again, and I am going to shout to everyone that I know, that if you love a dark romance, this is one that you must add to your shelf - it was SO GOOD!
Top marks to Zavarelli.
Ghost is a dark romance, told from dual POV and can be read as a stand-alone novel. Also part of a series following fellow mafia members in both the Irish Syndicate and Russian Vory.

It's no secret that I love to read about the super mean boys, and so when I realised that this book was about a hero with the nickname 'Vicious', I had high hopes that LJ Shen would deliver a fantastic enemies-to-lovers read that would tick all the boxes in what has to be one of my top themes.
For me, this one had it all, it starts off at High School, and finishes years later when they are both adults. Emilia is the daughter of the hired help, and Baron ‘Vicious’ Spencer is the boy who, whilst his uninterested parents are not often around, rules both the large mansion they live in, and the local school where he and his friends 'The Four Hotholes' roam free.
He hates Emilia on sight, and isn't shy about showing it. However, they are both hugely attracted to each other, and there lies the story.
"I got to him. He was in my veins. But I’d managed to crawl under his skin."
Vicious is entitled, and angry, and troubled, but is he redeemable? Well, whilst his character stayed very true throughout the book, I'd definitely say that he was. In addition, Emilia was a great heroine, she had a backbone (mostly), and a personality that made her stand out from other leading ladies that feature in many love/hate themed books.
In summary, the chemistry was off the charts, the character development was perfect, and pacing was fast enough to keep me turning the pages, and the hero was just the right amount of bastard that I love.
"You were always mine."
Whilst I technically read this in the last week of December, I am putting this straight on my Top 10 of 2017 shelf.
Huge Winner!
