Sally Hepworth is one of the best when it comes to domestic suspense, and I just love her storytelling writing so much.
I buddy read this with my husband and had a hard time not giving anything away because I ended up finishing before him.
The story features 4 POVs, about three foster siblings with a past/present storyline. When bones are discovered at the home they were raised, everyone comes into question what happened.
With fast chapters and an intriguing storyline, it was the perfect thrill ride that kept me guessing, and would make the best beach or poolside read this Summer.

This was a page turner and I loved the audiobook, narrated by multiple voices, from Kate Orsini, Sophie Amoss and Michael Crouch who is a favorite of mine.
THE MURDER RULE was my first by author Dervla McTiernan, and overall it was an entertaining cat and mouse type legal thriller.

From the creepy cover to the atmospheric setting, I was excited to read THE RESTING PLACE.
I enjoyed the past and present timelines that took place in the Swedish countryside of spooky Solhoga Estate, and loved the Nordic Noir vibes!
I was most fascinated with the present day storyline, featuring a woman named Eleanor who has prosopagnosia (the inability to recognize faces) but realized I’ve read this same storyline plot which took away some of the shock for me.
This was definitely more of a slow burn suspense, but you really felt the anxiety at every turn wondering what exactly is going on at Solhoga Estate.
I alternated between the physical book and the audio, and thought the audiobook was wonderful! The narrator nailed the eerie vibe perfectly and really set the tone for the story.

Kicking off the year with one of my first mysteries of 2021, with The Wife Upstairs. While this was one that I found myself not being able to put down, it was also so predictable and I saw the twists coming right off the bat.
While I haven’t read the classic Jane Eyre, I appreciate that the author was able to create a retelling of the beloved original which now has me wanting to give the OG a try!

You can imagine how excited I was to read Megan Goldin’s newest release, The Night Swim.
I’m not as much of a courtroom thriller fan, but I actually loved that this book contained a dual storyline with more than just a courtroom drama. It also involved a crime podcast and unsolved murder, which drew me in until the very end. Those last few pages were INTENSE!
The storyline felt like it could have been taken right off the pages of recent news headlines involving rape and sexual assault, and it held such a powerful part of the story.
I honestly finished reading this, and was actually a bit freaked out, because I was feeling all the atmospheric vibes at that point.

Every hard-edged character was just as flawed and grisly as the next, and I was pulled into this underbelly story of strength and justice.

Let me start out by saying that Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen jump started my love of the mystery/thriller genre with An Anonymous Girl and The Wife Between Us. They were just the right pace, without terrifying me too much, and keeping me on the edge of my seat.
Their writing is great, and together they make an amazing team! While I enjoyed You Are Not Alone, I did struggle with the main character, Shay, and never fully connected with her.
I did not see the actual twist, but I had a feeling it was about to be revealed.

But over the last year I have gradually built up my thriller love and the time finally came to read Salem’s Lot, also my third Stephen King this month!
What better time to read a vampire horror story than October. I loved this book so much. I am questioning my fears of big books and horror from this amazing author, and kicking myself for not reading this sooner! Officially hooked on King....more

After coming off a few heavier reads, this was just the book I needed! What a fast paced thrill ride! I loved the short chapters and this goose chase of finding out who killed the college student all those years ago. I spent most of this book trying to figure out if Sienna Scott’s mother really had a mental psychosis where she thought someone was after her or if they really were.
I would definitely recommend this one, my only flaw being that it was a bit rushed at the end, but if you’re looking for a lighter thriller, this one is for you!

I went in blind, and fell for each and every twist. It was such a binge worthy debut, and I think I read in one sitting. I loved that it was told with three POVs, each equally mysterious that leave you dumbfounded and needing to get to their POV to see what just happened.
This is one I would definitely recommend, and it’s already put 2020 on the map for thrillers to watch for this year. I’m always drawn into family dramas, and this one served it up well.

I was drawn to the storyline of two sisters, one who is addicted to heroin and battling the opioid epidemic, while the other patrols the same streets of Philadelphia as a cop.
This was such an emotionally gripping read, and one that I didn’t realize revealed such gritty truth, as the addictions have skyrocketed in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. After reading, I had to google it all, and was shocked that this was such a current crisis. This book gets all the stars, and I can see why it’s getting all the love!
