A copyright is the exclusive right of use and distribution of a particular publication held by a person or organization. The right firstly lies with the creator, but the right can also have been bought from the creator or acquired through other legal constructions. Copyright is not a full or lasting claim of ownership. While it prevents other bodies from simply taking the work and distributing or adapting it on their own terms, the concept of fair use allows fragments to be used by other bodies for purposes such as reviews or descriptions. How large those fragments might be and how many may be used is a matter of relativity and estimation. The chronal limits of a copyright depend on the laws of each country, but the general rule is that one lasts until 70 years after the death of the creator or last of a team of creators. At that point, it enters public domain. Copyright and public domain are limited to the exact specifications of the original work. For instance, a certain novel might be public domain now, but younger translations in other languages might not be and distributing those translations at will might be cause for a lawsuit, while the original-language version is up for grabs. Another example might be music; while a particular piece might be taken freely after the aforementioned 70 years, a younger recording might belong to the respective artist for many years to come.

A copyright is marked with ©. The concept of copyrights is regularly confused with that of trademarks, which is the intellectual property dealing with names, logos, and symbols under which a brand operates.

Information on copyrights in the USA can be found on the site of The United States Copyright Office. Keeping track of these websites provides insight into production developments and as to what the future may have in store for the DreamWorks Trolls franchise.

The copyrights policies explain how we manage the content of the DreamWorks Trolls franchise and the Trolls Trollpedia itself.

For a list of copyrights held by DreamWorks, see List of Copyrights.

Trolls Media

If you want to watch some Trolls media, there is a likely chance that you may be able to stream or download them. While some services support the content creators, some services provide content for free illegally. By illegally viewing full movies and TV series episodes, you are not supporting the publishers. By not supporting them, these production companies may not be able to continue the series. As a result, all illegal streaming and download links for full movies and TV series episodes are banned. This includes links to pirated cartoon databases, scanner websites and illegal cloud storage files.

Users must also refrain from mentioning websites that encourage piracy of the franchise installment. We invite international viewership to wait for the release of the franchise installment content in their area.

If new movies or TV series episodes are leaked from another country before the US, do not mention or link illegal ways to view the movies or episodes. Please wait until when the official sources are uploaded for purchase.

Audio-Visual Content

  • Reruns: Universal Kids, DreamWorks Channel or any cable and satellite television channels like POP and Tiny POP will rebroadcast the installment (e.g. Trolls: The Beat Goes On! episodes) at a later time.
  • Physical distribution: Trolls, Trolls Holiday, Trolls World Tour and Trolls: Holiday in Harmony are both available in Blu-ray and DVD, while Seasons 1-4 and Seasons 5-8 of Trolls: The Beat Goes On! are available on DVD.

In Regards to YouTube

Please see the Media Policy for more detailed information about video guidelines on this wiki. When uploading from YouTube, please keep in mind that:

  • Full movies must derive from the entirety of the official movie itself (e.g. Trolls World Tour). In the case of full TV series episodes, it must derive from the official series list (e.g. Trolls: The Beat Goes On!). Full unlicensed reuploads (including those with alterations) are prohibited.
  • YouTube TV is permitted as it requires a paywall.
  • Videos that use clips under fair use (eg. reviews, satires, education) are permitted and sometimes encouraged.
  • Movie, TV special and TV series episode clips longer than one minute must be from the universe's official channel or from a licensed television/video streaming provider (eg. Netflix Jr, Netflix Futures, Hulu, and Peacock TV), with the exception of songs (eg. Trolls: The Beat Goes On! Theme Song). Unlicensed movie, TV special and TV series episode clips that are less than one minute are allowed as long as said clips were not already uploaded by a licensed media provider.
    • For this reason, no unlicensed clips may be uploaded, as these episodes have already been uploaded in full.
  • Reaction videos that do not show the visual content of the episode or do not show the full episode are permitted. Reaction videos that show the entire episode with visual content in a corner/behind the reactor (even if the reactor pauses every now and then for comments) or that only show the episode (including some "blind reactions") are prohibited.

Miscellaneous

  • Most of the movie, TV special and TV series episode transcripts are owned by DreamWorks Animation and are an exception to Trolls Trollpedia's CC-BY-SA license. Those aforementioned transcripts are provided in full as a source of review and reference, which likely falls under fair use.
