Poppy's hug-time bracelet, which originally belonged to Viva

Structurally, hug-time bracelets consist of a band and a flower. They are normally worn around the left wrist.

The bracelets are originally said made from Cooper's fur and ding every hour, which notifies the Trolls to hug (that moment being known as "hug time"). They chime once every hour rather than any sooner so the Trolls can do other activities besides always hugging each other. The flower's color matches the skin of the Troll who owns it, but the band is often based on their clothing color. The bracelets are said to have been designed by Mandy Sparkledust, who also repairs them.

However, they were later retconned to have always existed in the Pop Trolls.

Most Pop Trolls wear them with exceptions, ironically all of BroZone have at some point refused to wear one and in Trolls Band Together Branch, John Dory, Clay and Spruce all refused to hug at the same time when Poppy's goes off. The bracelet fits and when circled by the original owner produces a sound. This reveals the original owner of Poppy's was Viva, her sister.

In episodes of Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, hug-time bracelets are often neglected from the wrists of Trolls unless the plot demanded it. They are also shown to be used to tell how many hours have passed, and thus serve an additional semi-function of being a timekeeper.

Hug Watches[]

The Hug Watch on display

In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! Season 4 episode "Musical Thrones", the Hug Watch was introduced as a "state of the art" version of hug-time bracelets. It has the ability to locate the nearest Troll for a hug, referred to as a "HPS" or "Hug Positioning System". Poppy offered the watch as a prize to increase tension, as it was her first year hosting the event.

The splendor of the watch caused friction between Smidge and Biggie. Biggie wanted it, but it was Smidge's turn to win the Musical Thrones Tournament, and they begun to get suspicious of each other, despite Biggie not being interested in breaking their bound as a team.

Hug Watch 2.0[]

The Hug Watch 2.0

In the Trolls: The Beat Goes On! Season 8 episode "What Did I Miss?", a special watch known as the "Hug Watch 2.0" was mentioned as a creation of Sky Toronto's research & development team. It is a newer, improvised version of the Hug Watch. It serves many additional functions, including games, a disco ball, a petting zone, a friend, and much more. However, the one thing it neglects is the ability to tell when it's hug time, a function that the watch is supposed to provide as a Hug Watch and the point of its existence. When pressed about this by a member of the audience, Sky ends his demonstration and bails on the presentation.

Other Tribe Watches[]

In the Trolls: TrollsTopia episode "Bring It In", Poppy shows off Hug Watches designed for the other five Troll Tribes. Most Trolls accepted the watches and even participated in hug time. However, the Classical Trolls didn't do hugs and weren't particularly good at it. In the end, their watches were treated as "bow time" watches instead.

  • The Rock Troll Hug Watch has a black strap and a spiky-looking flower.
  • The Country Troll Hug Watch resembles a sunflower.
  • The Classical Troll Hug/Bow Watch has a pale indigo strap with musical notes and a lily-like flower.
  • The Funk Troll Hug Watch has a purple and white flower on a psychedelic colored strap.
  • The Techno Troll Hug Watch has a glowing, neon-colored strap and a seashell with a pearl inside.
