Critics Consensus

Harnessing sick suspense from the glimmer in James McAvoy's eye, Speak No Evil is the rare remake that hushes up concerns of "been there, done that."

Kristy Puchko Mashable If you've never savored the blood and bite of a steak, this processed remake will probably serve just fine. Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Speak No Evil eventually goes full-on with the familiar horror movie blood-spattering, but the social satire in that well-executed build-up is the real strength of the film. Rated: 3/4 Sep 18, 2024 Full Review Christina Newland iNews.co.uk This is a psychological thriller that lies in wait for its audience, slowly building the skin-prickling sense that something is terribly amiss. Rated: 4/5 Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Sarah Vincent Sarah G Vincent Views Also have you seen McAvoy? He is a great actor who did not need any special effects to play a person with split personalities in “Split” (2016), and in “Speak No Evil,” he gives a fearless performance on multiple levels: the micro expressions Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Alison Gillmor Winnipeg Free Press For viewers looking for solid horror with an effective and eerie comic undertone, Speak No Evil says a lot. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 19, 2024 Full Review Dann Gire Chicago Daily Herald Don't underestimate the film's timely moral to the story — a chilling reminder of what happens when good people fail to set and enforce boundaries for acceptable behavior. Kera W Speak No Evil has a very frightening reality of what happens when you do not stand up for yourself or speak your truth. The American Remake has a more Hollywood ending that is more satisfying than the bleakness of the Danish Original Film. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review michael p Keeps you wondering what exactly is the situation until the very end. Different than any movie I've seen. I recommend this one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Theresa Finally a nail biting at the edge of your seat thriller! A must see! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Adrian S The build up to the action took too long and the action was too short. Judging from the title of the film, one would think that the film would have some supernatural dealings. The film over all is still somewhat entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Jordan dude was stupid as f Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/19/24 Full Review Monica Oh my gosh! Sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time!
