thecurran (talk · contribs) I bop around the place quite a bit. I try to do what I can to improve Wikipedia and spread WP:LOVE. I think I am of good standing in the community but I don't know how well I'm going and I feel less connected here with everyone than I do on Wiktionary. I want to do my best and, now that I know about WP:ER, I think it an avenue to help me do so. I understand how import it is for reviewees to go on and review others but I really don't know much about the process, so I don't feel capable of it just yet. • It's sort of humorous to me to see your Interiot page, and two edits followed by a gap of more than two years (how did you remember your password? :P ). By your own admission, you do a lot of lightweight editing, and that's reflected in your statistics (less than 1.5 edits per unique page). This, to me, means a lot of "minor" tidying-up this article and that article. I use the scare quotes around "minor" because so-called "minor edits" can add up to be something substantive as it seems they have in your case (1,900 edits is a pretty fair total for someone who obviously has more than just Wikipedia on their plate). A good step to integrating yourself into the community is one you've already taken, finding a WikiProject and calling it home, but another good one is to find a few articles to really sink your teeth into. Obviously, as there appear to be no whole articles under the purview of WP:WPFT, that's a little hard to do the easy way, through your "home" Project, but it's still something I encourage you do. Either build from something from scratch or find an article in crying need of improvement and see what you can do with it. Having a few badges of honor to put on your userpage can only be a good thing. Don't fall asleep zzzzzz 10:43, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your comments. I see what you mean and I have been trying to work on the United Nations list of Non-Self-Governing Territories. I've used it as a reference for years because I care a lot about it. When I changed my settings and noticed recently that it was an unassessed article, I made it my goal to craft it into a featured list. I've learned about the WP:PR Peer Review process and I'm using it to help me with that goal. I've also recently re-organized some templates around the projects of Science and Measurement. When I'm done with this UN list, I'll start hitting those hard.
As for the 2-year gap, I had to move around a lot and didn't have a phone line I could attach an internet connection to. The only research facilities available to me were for the express purpose of research; nothing else. I'm in a much more stable location now with a one-location full-time job and two one-location casual jobs. I'm building a house with my wife and don't have extended travel plans for quite a while. Sorry for interrupting pleasure with business. ^_^ Anyhow, you should see me around for quite a while yet. :)--Thecurran (talk) 23:27, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

  1. Of your contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
Lately, I've been trying to make sure that national subdivision flags or coats of arms appear on their appropriate ISO 3166-2 pages along with their official ISO transliterations. I think I've hit on a big important project and that I've done well so far.
  2. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
Yes, I have been in conflicts. The longest one was the use of Michael Jackson's nicknames on the introduction to his page. The biggest one was the creation of the article, diaper bag. I keep my mind open to the chance that I'm wrong. I try to be polite as possible. I do my research. I can usually nut it out with the other user, but when we cannot prove our points to one another, I appeal to the most appropriate third party I can find to get a sense of perspective. I initiate cool-down periods. I pay attention when authority has been appealed to.
