death?

[edit]

Did Mr. Aaron survive? Nothing is said that he died of his injuries, or at some later date. If he is still living I hope he has been able to find some manner of peace. PurpleChez (talk) 12:31, 27 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I found a video clip from 1965 which shows Mr. Aaron being interviewed about the attack, so he survived at least until then. I can't find any information about him after that. The video clip is here - https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4731656/user-clip-judge-edward-aaron. Skycloud86 (talk) 00:55, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look on Ancestry and I found records that I think refer to Aaron.

FindAGrave - Whilst it isn't a reliable source, there is a grave for a Judge Arone Jr. who was born on the 24th of January 1923 and died in Ohio on the 11th of March 1991. Both the page for his grave and the "U.S., Veterans' Gravesites, ca.1775-2019" list him with this name.

"U.S., Newspapers.com Obituary Index, 1800s-current" has an obituary for Judge Arone, calling him "Judge Ed Arone". I can't see the actual article as it's a subscription service, but the photograph seems to be of an African-American man.

"Ohio, U.S., Death Records, 1908-1932, 1938-2018" has a record for him, saying that he was born in Alabama and worked in construction.

"U.S., World War II Draft Cards Young Men, 1940-1947" for Judge Arone says he was living in Batesville, Alabama in 1942.

I can't be entirely sure, but I think the Judge Edward Arone dying in Ohio in 1991 is the same person as Judge Edward Aaron. Skycloud86 (talk) 01:22, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the obituary I mentioned above, I've now got access to Newspapers.com - https://www.newspapers.com/clip/103379089/obituary-for-judge-ed-arone-aged-68/

In the clip I posted above, he doesn't show his face but his head seems similar to the guy photographed in the obituary.
