Much to her father's chagrin, Katherine "Cassy" Pringle (Kay Johnson) falls in love with her chauffeur, Dan Wallace (Charles Bickford). When the happy couple announce their engagement, Cassy's father disowns her. But, as Wallace's career goes sour, the pair find themselves teetering on the edge of poverty. Cassy appeals to her wealthy cousin, Dulce (Kay Francis), who offers the downhearted Wallace a job on her husband's ranch -- and a heavy dose of extramarital attention.
