About us
We are bringing the original Sichuan baijiu from China to the world. Baijiu is the Chinese national spirit. Crafted by Luzhou Laojiao, China’s oldest continuously operating distillery since 1573, Ming River uses time honored traditional methods passed from master to apprentice over 20 generations. Each batch starts with locally harvested red sorghum grain and the purest waters from protected wells. It is fermented in earthen pits with naturally harvested yeast cultures native to the lush river town of Luzhou that impart the distinctive terroir of Sichuan style baijiu. After two months the mash is unearthed and distilled in small batches using a traditional Chinese pot still. The spirits age for up to two years before the master blender balances them into Ming River’s distinctive flavor. The result is an uncompromisingly bold spirit with notes of pineapple and anise followed by a long mellow finish. Double Gold Winner of the 2018 NY World Wine and Spirits Competition

This week PMC’s AAPI Affinity Group came together to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month with an insightful panel discussion featuring Michael Refuerzo, Global Head of Production of Beats by Dre, Michael Chuthakieo, CRO of 88RISING, and Harrison Wang, CEO & Founder of Unblocked, moderated by Mike Van, the President of Billboard. The session covered critical topics: mental health, socioeconomic differences, leadership, cultural nuances, generational gaps, and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion). To make the occasion authentic, the group served tasty treats like Ensaymadas (from the Philippines), Baijiu (from China), Seoul Sausage's Bento Boxes (Korean), etc. It was a great blend of meaningful conversation and delicious flavors. Penske Media Corporation’s #AAPI board hosted a lunch and panel to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Thanks to Mike Van for moderating and thanks to our panelists Harrison Wang Michael Chuthakieo and Michael Refuerzo for sharing their success stories as Asian entrepreneurs and executives. I told our board that I was tired of hearing about what Asians aren’t doing enough of, and I wanted to hear about what we ARE doing and how we are EXCELLING instead. These four guys are a great example for us to learn from! Thanks to our sponsors Ming River, Inc ONLY Hydration and #MOSHI

🙏A special thank you to Olivia White for her enlightening article on www.vinepair.com Gratitude to Ray Zhou and Joaquín Simó for their pivotal roles in introducing and contextualizing Baijiu in the West. Key takeaways: 🌍 Baijiu’s Potential Breakthrough in the Western Market: Baijiu is the most widely consumed spirit globally yet remains under the radar outside of China. It is traditionally made from sorghum and has deep historical roots. Trendsetting Asian-owned establishments in cities like NYC and San Francisco are pioneering baijiu’s introduction to the U.S. through creative cocktail offerings. 🍸 Insightful Contributions: Joaquín Simó emphasizes the importance of educating consumers and integrating baijiu into well-crafted cocktails to enhance its acceptance. Ray Zhou notes that pairing baijiu with suitable dishes can mitigate its robust flavors, making it more palatable for Western tastes. 📊 Cultural and Market Dynamics: baijiu's acceptance might follow a path similar to mezcal, which transitioned from niche to mainstream in the U.S., suggesting a promising growth trajectory for Baijiu. 🔥 Unique Flavor Challenges: Known for its strong, umami flavor, baijiu’s integration into Western drinking habits requires thoughtful culinary pairings and innovative mixology. #Baijiu #SpiritsIndustry #CocktailCulture #Mixology #GlobalSpirits #CulturalExchange #BeverageTrends #InnovativeCocktails #AsianCuisine #FoodPairing https://lnkd.in/evmBwFM9
Could Now Be the Time for Baijiu to Shine?

Ganbei to the Year of the Dragon! “For me, there is nothing more synonymous to the Lunar New Year celebrations than firecrackers, red envelopes and baijiu,” says Philip Ly, lead bartender and beverage director at General Lee’s Cocktail House in Los Angeles. “Growing up, our household was filled with generations of family members, all with food-stuffed smiling faces socializing throughout the night. Red-cheeked adults gossip at the table drinking baijiu out of unusually tiny little drinking vessels.” https://lnkd.in/eCtRiwfu
