This book is so focused on presenting the mechanics of making a movie that the text feels mechanical. Here's the text from 3 spreads (6 pages) to give you a taste of what I mean:

"A script's the first thing that we'll need.
We'll choose a cast. I'll play the lead.
You assist, and I'll direct.
I'll need a chair and full respect.
We'll borrow tools and build a set.
There are scenes to paint and props to get."

I'm sure there's a way to introduce these concepts without it feeling like you're reading an instruction manual!

The illustrations are cute, and the text is fairly concise. But it just wasn't very interesting to read. ( )
