A clever idea, but harder than I realized for young children: E is for embers, J is jack-o'-lantern. Each two-page spread has today on the left and tomorrow on the right; I covered the right side and had kindergartners guess what the word would be. For example, A is for seed---tomorrow's apple.

This was a cute book that would be great for primary students. This is a book about poems throughout a garden. This also involves family and friends.

I'm not crazy about the illustrations, but the story falls in the great trickster tradition which is always fun. And there's a dance-y refrain that's easy to learn and repeat.

Book text is completely fine. Pictures do not overtly display same-sex families but with close observation you can see it. Children will most likely not pick up on the imagery; however, just wanted parents to be aware. Summary on Amazon describes families "comprised of people of a range of genders and races."
