Great short book about hibernation. I love Bear's facial expressions, too. This would be a good book for a storytime about hibernation or changing seasons or something like that.

Cute introduction to beavers with soft illustrations. Unfortunately, Alina might already be a bit too old for it.

This book is about an old woman who finds a bear that she raises and adopts as her own son. Throughout the story the people from the village do not want the bear around because they think he is dangerous so the woman asks him to leave. When the bear leaves the woman manages to go visit him because she misses him. A teacher can use this book when talking about the winter or Native Americans. The illustrations are wonderful for children and very detailed.

In this story, a lonely old woman adopts a polar bear cub and raises him like a son. After he grows up, he repays her with visits, and they take care of each other. It is a simple story with a message that the definition of "family" can broader than expected. It also emphasizes the values of loyalty and taking care of animals.… (more)
