ARLINGTON, Texas (WVUE) - The Saints delivered their second dominant victory of the season Sunday (Sept. 15), and this time it was the favored Dallas Cowboys left feeling black and blue, after New Orleans left AT&T Stadium with a 44-19 rout.

The Saints (2-0) have opened the season with consecutive 40-point scoring games for only the second time in franchise history. The other time -- 2009 -- ended in a Super Bowl victory.

Alvin Kamara registered four touchdowns on the afternoon, three on the ground and one through the air. Kamara totaled 180 scrimmage yards, eclipsing 100 yards from scrimmage for the second week in a row.

As with last week’s 47-10 crushing of Carolina, the Saints’ offense came out on fire. Derek Carr completed 3 of 3 passes for 65 yards on the first drive, connecting with Chris Olave on a 39-yard strike. The drive ended with a 5-yard touchdown run by Kamara, staking the Saints to an early 7-0 lead.

The Saints struck again on the first play of their next series. Carr hit receiver Rashid Shaheed in stride for a 70-yard touchdown. The big strike upped the Black and Gold lead to 14-3.

The Saints weren’t close to finished in the first half. Their third series produced the third touchdown of the game. Carr hit Kamara on a screen pass, and 57 yards later the running back was in the end zone.

Kamara would score three touchdowns in the first half, the final one a 12-yard touchdown run.

New Orleans scored 35 points in the first half, tying for the most points Dallas ever allowed before halftime in franchise history.

New Orleans’ defense also impressed, allowing just one touchdown to the Cowboys on a 65-yard pass from Dak Prescott to CeeDee Lamb.

With Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore inactive Sunday with a hamstring injury, the Saints’ secondary held the dangerous Lamb to four receptions for 90 yards. Prescott completed 27 of 39 passes for 293 yards but was intercepted twice and sacked three times.

The Saints’ run defense held the Cowboys to just 68 yards on the ground.

Carr finished his day completing 11 of 16 passes for 243 yards and two TDs, with one interception. Each team had 10 drives in the game, but the Saints outgained the Cowboys, 432-353.

The Saints face the Philadelphia Eagles next Sunday at noon in the Caesars Superdome.
