PINEVILLE, La. (KALB) - The Louisiana National Guard announced that their 3673rd Support Maintenance Company, 415th Military Intelligence Battalion and 139th Regional Support Group held a post-deployment awards ceremony on February 4, at the Marriott Hotel in Baton Rouge.

During the award ceremony, they said 126 outstanding citizen-soldiers received the LANG War Cross Medal, which honors LANG service members who carry out a minimum term of 90 days of service in the event of a national emergency, declared war, or at presidential behest in other capacities related to national safety and security.

“I want to thank every Soldier and family member for your service and the many sacrifices that you made during the entire deployment,” said Brig. Gen. Cindy Haygood, the assistant adjutant general to the Army of the LANG. “I am proud to serve with you and call you my teammates.”

In 2023, the 3673rd deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Spartan Shield. During which, they provided maintenance support for the United States Army Central Command in five different countries in the region.

“We provided area and support maintenance in the CENTCOM area of operation,” said 1st Sgt. Anthony Scott, the senior NCO of the 3673rd. “We provided automotive, small arms, computer and radio equipment, allied trades and ground maintenance support along with recovery operations. We conducted missions in Iraq, Syria, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.”

The 3673rd is the largest maintenance company in the LANG. Prior to deploying last year, the 3673rd was mobilized to assist in Hurricane Ida response efforts in 2021. The Operation Spartan Shield deployment in 2023 marked their first overseas mobilization since supporting Operation Desert Storm in 1990.
