Writing consumes Michael Powell. It's been his habit since childhood. Most specifically, he has written Christian nonfiction for twenty years. Currently Michael is a public school teacher at a Texas high school, but he has taught Bible at camps and church retreats all over the Southern United States, and in California, Washington, Belarus, and Poland.

He lives in a small community called Buncombe, Texas with three dogs, three sons, one cat, one daughter, and one amazing wife. His blog is www.upandoutpublishing.com and his email is prowritermike.com.

Usually after a week I've thought of enough ways to continue the story, or logical point of the book, and I get back after it. There have been many weeks that I set out to write 10,000 words and only wrote 800.

But at my better moments I deal with writer's block by continuing to write around the particular block. For example, if I'm working on a novel, and I'm blocked, I can switch to work on a blog post or a newsletter or a children's book or a nonfiction Christian inspirational text. Having lots of projects at once helps keep production moving even when I'm struggling to keep moving on one particular project.(less)

There's a blank page, and then there's a story. Since we are made in the image of God, and He is Creator, and think any form of creating connects us better to God. Writing can even be a form of worship.

Six Similarities, A chapter from Moments with Malachi

Unity is important enough to take two moments for celebration and discovery. Our actions are not just our own, but determine the blessings of God upon another. Sharing the same covenant means we have at least six similarities, similarities that deeply connect us to each other, like roots intertwined.

We are united in sin. The first military battle Israel lost was because one man sinned. God told Jo
