The Mall by Megan McCafferty

Protect the cookie.

I originally asked for this book from Netgalley because I loved Megan McCaffery’s Jessica Darling series. Plus the early 90s in New Jersey is such a niche nostalgia, how could I turn that down? I am extra thankful that Wednesday Books asked me to be part of their book tour! So welcome to my stop on The Mall‘s blog tour, and thank you for a copy of this book in exchange for

Meghan and 1 other person liked Izzy's status update
Izzy
Izzy is on page 163 of 448 of The Reappearance of Rachel Price: While the mystery is somewhat interesting and finally starting to pick up, Bel is just......a predictable teenage prick?? Her personality combined with Jackson's language extending scenes make the 400+ page length feel completely unnecessary right now.

Victoria Schwab
“I'd rather die on an adventure than live standing still.”
V.E. Schwab, A Darker Shade of Magic

Rainer Maria Rilke
“Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.”
Rainer Maria Rilke

Harlan Coben
“Genius is a curse. That's how I look at it. Some think that the brilliant comprehend the universe in a way the rest of us can't. They see the world how it truly is—and that reality is so horrible the lose their minds. Clarity leads to insanity.”
Harlan Coben, Caught

Harlan Coben
“I remember one time I heard this English professor asking the class what the world's scariest noise is. Is it a man crying out in pain? A woman's scream of terror? A gunshot? A baby crying? And the professor shakes his head and says, 'No, the scariest noise is, you're all alone in your dark house, you know you're all alone, you know that there is no chance anyone else is home or within miles—and then, suddenly, from upstairs, you hear the toilet flush.”
Harlan Coben, Caught

Milan Kundera
“You can't measure the mutual affection of two human beings by the number of words they exchange.”
Milan Kundera

Tarma I found out that one of the books you have 'to read' (A People's History of the Vampire Uprising) isn't at the library BUT they do have something you have a quote from. I love the quote -
“They walked as old friends walk, without often speaking, sharing the kind of silence that is not so much silence as a kind of still communication." so looked for the book and my library has it! \o/ (It's on hold now, even as I type.)
