“If I was half the writer that you are, I would be a three foot poet.”
Wayne Barrett

“My kind has become the the centerpiece for horror stories and legends across the globe, and society has labeled the vampire as a monster, but the creature peering from beneath the fog misted top hat that night was a monster that would surpass the wildest imaginations of the most skilled story tellers. And he was a human being.”
Wayne Barrett, Feather and Bone

“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”
J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

“Adults are always asking little kids what they want to be when they grow up ’cause they’re looking for ideas.”
Paula Poundstone

“Love is a noun as well as a verb, a treacherous construct.”
Chloe Thurlow, Katie in Love

“Silence—people are afraid of it—they feel the need to make small talk, anything, just to break the stillness. I don’t feel any such need. To me, silence brings about peace and certitude.”
Henry Martin, Escaping Barcelona

“That which you believe becomes your world.”
Richard Matheson, What Dreams May Come

I'm only a 1/4 way through. I agree about being taught this info but unfortunately we get mostly propaganda and all our skeletons get tucked neatly in their closets.

HBalikov How far are you into Gail Collins' book, Wayne? I found myself wishing that some of this information was taught when I was in high school.

Argona Thank you so much for the friend request. I was thinking of sending you one myself.^^

HBalikov Thanks, Wayne, for liking my review of Cornwell's The Empty Throne. Have you read any of this series? I am captured by his celebration of the ordinary man doing extraordinary things.

Jan Rice Hi, Wayne; thanks for your friend request. I don't think I could have asked you; perhaps Goodreads wants to protect authors from being harassed, so no way to request friendship with or private message a Goodreads author. If I'm missing something here, let me know!

message 1: by Sarra

Sarra Garrett I am currently writing a horror/thriller based on a true story that happened to me. Of course a couple of things had to be changed. It's called The Turkey Farm and I am hoping it will be a good read. No one will see the ending coming. Man I can be evil and I so wish I could have done what I did in the book in real life to the man who poisoned me. It will be finished in a couple of weeks.
