This is a decidedly older young adult book, rather like Brandon Sanderson's Rithmatist series, and unlike his Alcatraz series, which is a great middle teen series. Like both of those series, there's a lot to like about Steelheart: great, memorable characters who have real depth, interesting plot, and some good insights into what makes us human, without trying to cheapen the experience.
