Crossroads of Twilight (The Wheel of Time, #10)

and tore the world asunder.
Is Crossroads of Twilight the weakest Wheel of Time book I've read so far? Probably.
Is it still amazing? Pfft, it's a Wheel of Time book. Of course it is.
In terms of plot development, this book has nothing to offer. Absolutely nothing. But the world and the characters are so fantastic I don't even mind. And since for the first time, none of the protagonists act like whiny teenagers, I want to read the next one straight away.

The next book is miles ahead of this one in terms of excitement. And then Jordan died...

I will not speculate on this in details as I will spoil some things for you, but I still despair thinking about his future writing plans that he announced before he became terminally ill.
The same by the way goes to Roger Zelazny - I would love to see his further Amber stories.

Just finished, so I will agree with you on the lack of whineyness. One thing I noticed was that there's no Mat, Rand, or Perrin saying that the other is better with women... I wonder when that stopped?!Good to see them all getting on with things, being "adults", but they've become too somber and reflective instead. I will always hate certain characters in this series for how much they annoyed me in the first set of books, but some of them become great by the end.

I will always hate certain characters in this series for how much they annoyed me in the first set of books, but some of them become great by the end."When I first started the series, I never saw it as a "coming of age"-type epic (just looked and only 3 people have marked it as such, so it shows a general consensus there), but considering that a major part of the character development is to do with how they grow up quickly and adapt to their new and ever-changing situations, I guess it is, in a way. Even Nynaeve is becoming someone decent (although she didn't feature here), and I've heard that she's one of the ones that grows the most.

I never cared much for them in general, but I have to appreciate their growth. I will always hate Rand, but I will also always really like him for the great character he is at the end of the series. Nynaeve is at least slightly similar. But mostly I just prefer to focus on and enjoy all the other themes, and more than anything the absolutely fantastic setting :)
