Such a good romantasy! I probably would've enjoyed it more if I wasn't so distracted lately. I read the first half sporadically, and it was hard to get into but once I started consistently reading it was incredible. Read the latter half all in a single setting!

It was a perfect balance between romance and plot/political intrigue. The slow burn and tension had me enraptured. Makram was swoon-worthy with his dialogue while Naime was such a regal badass. I love a good FMC that can bring men to their knees, all with a few sharp words. Such a queen 👑.

Their eyes met, his black as night. “I have missed you like a drowning man misses air.”

I did want more resolution at the end though. I feel like there is so much story left to tell with these two. I understand this is an interconnected series but each book is about different characters. I want more Makram and Naime!

“I am not a monster,” he pleaded. “I am not…I do not kill for the joy of it. Please don’t“—he took a shuddering breath—”please don’t think I’m a monster.”
“You are not a monster.”

I may continue with the series, not sure yet. There is one character I'm dying to read about though (Ihsan 🤭). Please let me know your thoughts and opinions on this and other books in the series. Is it worth it?
