an Orwellian tragedy
Exactly like something Orwell might write. By the end, I was thinking: This is Orwellian. It is a macabre satire on Communism and Capitalism and the people who get swallowed up by the chasm in-between.
A significant novel about the death games of espionage and all the trickery and justification that come with.
[I understand Le Carré felt this novel failed because it romanticized espionage. I didn’t feel romanticized at all.]

I don't think Le Carré romanticized any of his topics.
