I agree! Some reviews were negative about the angry protagonist. It was masterful one of my best reads so far, this year.

Dolors :: This is one of those books that is hard to review b/c it is not a particularly pleasant story or one that has likable characters. The writing, concept, (the allusions!), and artistry in which the story unfolds is indeed masterful.

Looked for you at BCL yesterday! :)

I read the description of this book and added it to my "want to read" list. But this part of the description puzzled me: "dashing Skandar, a half-Muslim Professor of Ethical History". I had no idea someone could be a half-Muslim. Are there half-Christians? Anyway I'm looking forward to reading it. Maybe I'll find out what half-Muslim means.

I hear you- the writing and the rage kept me riveted. looking forward to your review.

This book is both brilliant and unsettling. When I came upon that scene toward the end, I literally gasped out loud. Did NOT see that coming.
