Finally, I've finished this series of boredom. If I ever read the line "fair point well made" again, I will have a seizure.

There is one scene in the middle of this book that illustrates my main problem with this whole series, especially with the second and third part: Ana and Christian are just not working for me.

There's Ana, in a club, dancing, and a guy starts to join her and touches her. And she slaps him. Well, okay, whatever. But - the troubling thought is the reason she gives for slapping him. It's not because some random guy was rubbing all over herself. No, she slapped him because she "instinctly knew how Christian would react to seeing some stranger pawing me. I knew he'd lose his precious self-control. And the thought that some stupid nobody could derail [...] my love, well, it makes me mad" (pp.304).

Enter the world of Ana and Christian. She - super naive, dense and plain stupid, make no mistake - bases each and every of her decisions on how Christian might react. Not that she always choses the best way of avoiding his extreme and over-the-top reactions, but still. Imagine this: Ana, Christian and "the gang" (her/their friends and family who - of course - are all romantically involved with each other, just how I imagined my future when I was ten) are chatting the night away. Ana's friend says something really trivial. BUT! Ana is all alert, thinking "OMG what will Christian think/how will he react?"

And so on and so on. Christian freaks over almost anything Ana does, and all the fun girly things are off limits and cause mental meltdowns in Mr. Grey's fifty shades of fucked up personality: driving a jet ski, sunbathing topless, meeting with friends for a drink. What a super prudish annoying extremely unsexy controll freak. GAH. Again, Ana is to blame herself for being so bland and annoying, I wouldn't even know where to begin with. I'd rather be BFF forever with Bella Swan, and believe me, that is saying something. So yes, maybe, in a way Ana and Christian deserve each other after all... ;)

Christian and Ana seem to have great sex and lots of is - which basically is a good thing, of course - everybody deserves to have good sex. But the way it's handled - boring, not sexy and surprisingly prudish (I so longed for a good dosage of COCK ever now and then. Or ASS. Not "his erection" or just "him". Uh. What a cockerectionblock).

Also, the multi orgamsic sex is - in my humble opinion - the only thing they share. Which, again, isn't a bad arrangement! Ana, shag the brains out of this guy, Christian, give her tantric dreams forever, but after climaxing, part ways! That is the only logical consequence I can come up with regarding these two and their "loving relationship" aka a relationship that takes non-communication and passive aggressiveness to higher levels.

The gist: If you think Grey and/or Ana are sexy, sweet, romantic, whatever, hey, more power to you. I know this is a fictional book and people like/prefer/get off on all kinds of fantasy. I'd never judge you on that. I, however, fail to see the point of this. As for all the other flaws of this series - weak writing, strange concepts of "inner voices", misuse/waste of potential interesting characters and/or plots, black/white stereotypes only - see my previous or other peoples' reviews.

The only good thing that came out of this: I really value my own fanfiction lots more now :))

Anica Da war aber jemand tapfer! *g*
