I skipped the second one, Only One Chance, in this series because I don't think overly-obnoxious playboy-like heroes are cute (and the hero, Miller, gave me Mal Ericson vibes, a la Play).

So, on the third of the series... How was this one?
The heroine, "glad-her name-wasn't-shortened," is Evelyn

The hero, "not-really-alpha, but meh," is Manning (ugh...I do not like the name & his character definitely did not help it)



Evelyn and Manning started out suspect, with the foul being done by Manning, for the most part. There is definitely too much of the dragon OW, which made the story suffer, and the hero, himself, for me at least, was the reason the story just didn't work out the way it could have: for I much prefer a hero who blows a fire torch to his baggage or at least already has a tight rein on it before he fully engages his possible forever...

or before he cries about it...

***I like my book heroes to be 100% alpha (or very beautifully beta), so they can only cry for a really good reason***


Therefore, this is the 2nd NM series that I started with the first book being an okay read for me and with the subsequent books just fizzling out.

It's "so goes the formula" again and an underdeveloped-to-almost-bad story happened to characters who had potential. (view spoiler)[Even their smexy times could not save the story b/c I've found that the dialogue during sex seemed familiar or very similar to that in the 1st book, & I could call it both repetitive and contrived (hide spoiler)]
