Let’s just speak frankly about what we’re all thinking. The expectations were high for this one. And how does it compare to one of the most popular M/Ms ever? Hmm. Not favorably. I liked some of it, especially in the beginning. But I can’t say I liked the book on the whole nor do I recommend it.

I was initially optimistic, because this writing duo definitely has some chops in the heat department, and those things were looking up. And there were some morsels included that gave the story personality, such as Keaton’s animal sex tidbits that he dropped from time to time.

SinnerThree: Okay, I’ll bite. How do lobsters find their playmates?
LobsterShorts: The female pees into the male’s shelter. And the dude is like OH BABY. Then they both pee on each other. She enters his den and molts. He kicks her clothes away like a prom dress. Then they do it missionary style.
SinnerThree: That’s a lot of detail, dude. I don’t know whether to be terrified or turned on.

But despite the potential, I never did feel a really strong connection between the MCs, and the story ended up seeming incomplete, somehow. Lots of elements were opened up but then either scantily developed or hastily resolved.

Sigh. I know we want to love them all, but there’s a little extra want when it’s something this highly (though briefly) anticipated. Unfortunately, this one didn’t quite deliver.
