The Boy & His Ribbon (The Ribbon Duet, #1)

“There is no me without him."
Sweet baby Jesus, what a ride!! I’m so emotionally exhausted right now, I can’t even articulate the right thing to say. I knew this was going to be different story and I couldn’t wait for that, but what I never factored in, was to be so emotionally invested in these characters. They took a little piece of my heart with every heartbreak and survival mode they had to endure and if you think you know how this story is going to end, think again.
Most ten year olds have the luxury of going to school and playing with their friends, but that’s not the case for Ren. Sold by this mother to a farmer for hard labor, childhood as he knows it, is now over. Now escaping with just a backpack and sheer determination, Ren is officially on the run and he's not looking back. But what he'll soon discover, is that he’s not alone and his journey is about to get a lot more complicated.
As I’ve said before, this was a highly charged emotional read that was without a doubt, heartbreaking at times. I have no idea how this author managed to suck us into a storyline that spanned eighteen years and still made us crave more!! I felt like I was on something while reading this. My heart was beating too fast in certain chapters, my palms were sweaty, and I swear that ending took a year off my life!!
Ren and Della were not your ordinary characters that met, fell in love, and had a happily ever after. This was a story about survival, sacrifice, and not having the one thing that you love the most in a way that makes your heart bleed every time you think about it. It was forbidden, heartbreaking and even though at times, far fetched and unbelievable, it kept us on our toes. There have been a lot of times when I’ve said that I need something different in my stories, and I don’t have to say that for this one.
Now is it June yet?!!!!
