bookshelves: bonus-novella-to-book1, carter-and-kat-again

This is a 70-page novella in which Book 1's main characters Kat and Carter’s story continues.

Review for Book 1:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Book 1 was totally epic but this one tastes like just bonus scenes for more taste. It picks up where Book 1 has ended - you know, he proposes, she accepts...

In this book, they share the news of their engagement with family and friends. Kat's mum causes a little discomfort when she learns the news of engagement.

There is a bit of news about Carter's friend Max, who is in rehab and some news about the bad guy Austin.

There are a few hot scenes of the lovely couple, of course.

So, long story short, you can read it or not, it doesn't matter, no gain, no loss!

I just don't want to rate this because Book 1 was epic and I don't know how I can rate this mini-bonus thing!

Rejane What?! What happened in this book??
Did the characters personally change? Any unnecessary drama??

Nope, nope... Don't worry. No one's character changed.
I meant that you can leave the series at the end of Book 1 - this is nothing important... But still, if you want some more taste of the characters, you can read it. I just don't care about novellas, that's why...

Rejane Ohhh.. ok. Good to know.
I like novellas though when the authors don’t create unnecessary drama. Just something more after the hea

And there is one more after Book 2..
I think their story will continue till they are married with children... Mini-bonuses in between the other books in the series :)

Rejane Are you going to read books 2 and 3?

You are welcome dear...

I am reading Book 2 now but not enjoying it at all. Max is an unbearable hero with all his weaknesses.

Instead of DNFing it, I may just skip and scan and read the parts where my dear Carter & Kat appear... :)))

Then I will start Book 3 and check if it is any good.

Rejane The curse of the following books in a series. I noticed authors can’t keep up the same level of the 1st book most of cases. It feels all the inspiration is spent in the 1st book.

Yeah, this happens in most, really, Forbidden Men by Linda Kage an exception for me. I only disliked 2 books among 9 and that's a good number :))))

message 12: by Rejane (new)

Rejane I don’t know if I have any of those in my kindle. I’ll check.
Every book is about a different couple??

message 13: by Rejane (new)

Rejane I have books 1,2 and 5.
Are they good??

1,2, 5 and 8 were my favorites, Rejane...

Yeap, each book has a sensitive issue in them, but they are really good... My friend on gr had to encourage me for a few weeks so that I give a chance to the 1st book and then, I was hooked...

Rejane @Shari Kay.. I am very sensitive too. Lol @Dilek I think you’re not so picky. Sometimes you can get over some issues when other things in the story holds your interest. I still have to work on that. Lol

Yeap, I am picky but not as picky as you guys :))) I have some of my own triggers that I try to stay away and the rest I try to deal with... I just cannot stand pedophilia, daddy fantasy, and child abuse kind of extreme things plus BDSM. Weak and submissive heroines bother me, as well!

And like you said Rejane, sometimes something makes up for all the bad things for me in some books, as in Vicious...

You know that I keep battling with myself about reading VICIOUS. I just need that "wow" info/factor that will lead me to read it. Maybe you can say something about it?! lol
I can't deal with the things you mentioned above either. Specially things involving children. For the BDSM, is just so worn out trope that it became annoying. And ridiculous. And I can't connect with the life style so every time I read a scene it feels stupid to me. With all due respect for those who enjoy it. I just can't imagine all the spanking, an bondage and all the hard core things that go with it.

Yeap, BDSM is a far far fantasy for me that I cannot understand or relate to.

And for Vicious, what can I tell you? You will probably hate that book.

If someone had told me what happens in it, I would never have read that asshole's book :))!!!

But, Rejane, he has his own charm - something different about him even when he humiliates people. He is funny even when he is being cruel. So sick but still charming!

He was obsessive about her (that I liked about him), which destroyed her first but then, they became a match for each other. Vicious had reasons of his own for being the way he was and at the end, he groveled in his own unique way :)))

There were a lot of other people in between, though. I don't think you will like it, Rejane... but it was sizzling hot between them, just saying...

It is a love or hate book and NOT safe at all...

message 20: by Rejane (new)

Rejane Lol.. you are taking me to the dark side.
Is there cheating?? Like cheating while they’re together??

Dilek VT Rejane wrote: "Lol.. you are taking me to the dark side.

Nope, there isn't... he wants to when they are apart for some reason I don't remember now but then he sees he cannot...

But nothing is ideal in their story. They are attracted to each other when teenagers but Vicious is in the dark side during those years so he treats her really badly. Then, she goes out with his best friend and she gives her virginity to him. This kills Vicious when he learns it and he does bad things...

Her being with his best friend still bothers me when I think of it.

There is a long separation time after their fist meeting during teenage years. They become lovers only when they are adults.

Oh, Rejane, I am scared... I don't want to encourage you to read it. Don't read it... It is not a safe book, there are too many things that will bother you. I am scared that you will hate it. It is not safe apart from the cheating part... What allures people so much is, I believe, the fact that they have an incredible obsession about each other and they end up together no matter what... And it is very-well written with high angst.

message 22: by Rejane (new)

Rejane Lmao. Sometimes the dark side is appealing. The more you tell someone to stay away the more you attracted to it.
I am going to read a very stupid book now to clear my mind and maybe I will read VICIOUS. lol

OK, me shutting up now, then... lol ....

Rejane I’ll let you know. Who knows.. maybe I am a really vicious myself.
I hear times too many I should be more patient, polite and thinking twice before say something. People fail to understand I may sound rude but I’m really trying to be sweet. It’s just a matter of interpretation. Lol.

It's not what you say but how they hear/interpret it, darling...

Everyone interprets it depending on their character... Never mind them!

I try to be nice and sweet but I sound none. Lol
