This books is literally the epitome of a problematic fave. It's clichéd and unoriginal, the plot seems pointless at times, there's little to no character growth.. and yet.
And yet.
It's so... fucking... GOOD.
It's partly because the drama is 10/10 would drama again grade A+++. And it's partly because, SOMEHOW, I care about the characters. Just a little bit.
⇢ the drama is so ridiculous and so freaking out of this realm that I almost can't deal sometimes. I'm that asshole that loves to play those games that are like, what would you do if... and makes up some !fucked up! scenario and honestly, I have to give it up to Erin Watt. She just laughed into my face and decided to write every bombshell situation into Broken Prince.
I mean, hot damn a girl can only take so much angst lolol not true what am I saying.
⇢ the characters are not easy ones to like. If anybody came up to me and asked me how I felt about them, my answer would probably be along the lines of "I could not give three garbanzos whether these characters were ejected from this literary earth". But a small, small part of me still wants them to come out of everything alive and well. And until I can get my feelings surgically removed, it'll probably stay that way.
Everything else was meh, though. Nothing happened for most of the book, it was COMPLETELY unrealistic, almost pointless at times.
But still, what the shit was with that ending? I thought Erin Watt had put me through it all.

They really are. The angst reminds me of the spanish novellas I used to watch with my grandma. It's one crazy thing after the other. I'm so hooked, lol!!

I had a feeling about the last visitor to the Royal house at the end of the book and some suspicions about how it will all play out...not sure I can make it to October though. :)
OMG YES I agree with everything you just said! IT'S VERY CLICHE AND TOO MUCH DRAMA but I LOVE IT??? Hahaha it's so addictive and page turning. Erin Watt is evil, she put us through the whole brutal scenes in Broken Prince, put ANOTHER cliffhanger, and left us to wait for Twisted Palace. Ugh. So insufferable :( and yes for the characters, all the Royal boys seem SO swoon worthy in the book, especially Reed, but I would NEVER want to have anything to do with those kind of people in real life. I mean... creepy and dangerous and I still couldn't help but swooning over them!!

Honestly, these books aren't anything amazing and it's nothing I'd categorize as life-changing. But I know what I'm getting when I read it. I don't read it or rate it thinking it's some deep story of revelations. I read it knowing it's an easy, no-think kind of book, you know?
It's like reality TV. I know it's stupid, I know I could be doing better things in my spare time, but sometimes, I just want to sit there and be absorbed with other people's drama :)

oh, as to these serials/stories... the are cut from the same cloth of the Dallas, Dynasty, Gossip Girls /90210 type of shows... we know they are technically shallow but are put together in a way to captivate the mind and mental eye... to want to watch like an accident you pass... cannot help yourself. Now i am a fan for I understood what i was getting and accepted it as it was...plus love Elle Kennedy and Jen Frederick and their work... so win win for me.
