I've read several books from Jessica Lemon's Second Chance and Love in the Balance Series, and enjoyed them very much. Fighting for Devlin is the first book in her new Lost Boys Series, and while I enjoyed it also, it had a bit of a different feel to it than her previous books did. Kind of a little darker, which wasn't bad, just different. Rena Lewis hasn't had an easy time of it. After tragedy struck her life, she became determined to be one of the good girls, denying herself the pleasures others her age indulge in because that is what she believes she deserves, blaming herself for what happened. She hasn't even been out on a date in four years; hasn't even been interested in a guy until she sees Devlin, her boss, who awakens all kinds of feelings in her. Devlin is not only her boss. the Oak & Sage belongs to him. He's well dressed, lives the good life, and is totally out of Rena's league. Devlin's also mixed up in some pretty serious illegal gambling as well. He winds up on Rena's doorstep bloodied and bruised after things go bad one night, and suddenly, she sees a whole different side of Devlin......one she can relate to.......one she very much wants to help.

As the story progresses and the relationship between Devlin and Rena begins to devlop, things end up getting a whole lot worse before they get better. I had a hard time liking Devlin in the beginning, because he was really a jerk, and I didn't like the way he used Rena or the way he treated her. He did come a long way throughout the course of the story, however, and ended up doing the right thing in the end, but it took him a while to get to that point, and it wasn't until he got to that point, that I really changed my opinion of him, regardless of his hotness factor. I did enjoy the book overall, however, though not quite as much as Jessica Lemon's other series I do look forward to seeing what she has in store for her readers in the next installment.
