The female lead in the story is Kate Affeto, who has had a hard life, but has made the most out of it while she raised her brother. She now operates The Sweet Spot, her restaurant, and employees not only her brother, but also a variety of other characters who have become like family to her. Her romantic interest in the story is Jack Pensione, the oh so very hot billionaire whose company has purchased her building, and is currently trying to get her out of the building to convert her area into a gym. Of course, Kate is determined to do everything in her power to prevent this, the only problem being that when she gets in Jack Pensione's presence, she turns to goo and has a hard time remembering who she is, much less what she wants to say.
Jack is not only a hottie, he's also a werewolf, and he is very attracted to Kate, despite his determination to keep that atttraction under wraps. The company he works for is a family business and his father is the head of company and also the current alpha of the pack. As events unfold, the circumstances become even more complicated, resulting in something neither Jack nor Kate ever thought they would be ready for. While it can easily be read as a standalone, Down Home Cowboy is part of Yates Copper Ridge Series, each of which features swoon-worthy cowboys and the ladies they love. I've not had a chance to read them all yet, but I have read several, all of which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
In Down Home Cowboy, we meet Cain Donnelly, one of the Donnelly brothers. He and his daughter Violet have moved back to Copper Ridge from Texas, after his wife walked out on them several years previously. Cain has never been good at relationships and isn't interested in one now, convincing himself all his focus and energy has to be on Violet, but then he's really having a difficult time learning how to deal with and relate to his brooding teenage daughter. While he isn't interested in a relationship, it's been quite sometime since he shared a bed with a woman, and that is something he is missing. The only problem is that he hasn't found a woman yet that peaks his interest, that is until he sees this beautiful red-head while out one night with his brothers.
Low and behold, when he drops his daughter off at her part-time job in the early morning, who does he run into, but the same beautiful woman he saw at the bar. This woman is Alison Davis, owner of the local bakery and his daughter's new boss. As the story progresses so does the undeniable attraction between Cain and Alison, and things get even more complicated. They strike an agreement of sorts and Alison tries to help Cain with his relationshiop issues with Violet, all the while, whether they realize it or not, they both help each other deal with their own issues, both physically and emotionally, which proves to be quite the entertaining read.
Down Home Cowboy is a really great story filled with hot romance, characters you can't help but love, and is something than contemporary romance fans will most definitely want to check out. ...more

The war is over, and despite the physical attraction and chemistry that has always been between them, something isn't quite right. Cara is well now and looking forward to finally being able to take an actual vacation with her hot vampire husband. Despite the war being over, danger is still very present, and that danger is focused on Cara. Talen, of course, is all hot badass vampire and he isn't about to let anything touch Cara. His most difficult obstacle, however, is Cara herself, who wants in on the action, despite her husband and son's wishes to the contrary.
Talen is a great novella and fans of the series will enjoy and appreciate seeing this update on one of their favorite couples and the family they now have. The romance is hot and Cara finds out, now that she is well, just how much Talen has been holding out - or I guess I should say, holding back on her in that department, and is it ever hot. It is also a bridge connecting The Dark Protectors Series and the Realm Enforcer's Series and something fans of Rebecca Zanetti will definitely enjoy. ...more

Ben Westmore is a hockey player who has the player image down to an art. One thing he usually rarely, if ever does, is drink....except this one night in Vegas, on New Years Eve...and for celebrities and famous athletes, what happens in Vegas, unfortunately does not stay in Vegas. It's now four month's down the road, Ben's the Captain of the team, which brings with it a lot of responsibility and pressure. It's time for playoffs, a time when he needs to focus the most, when what happened in Vegas pretty much jumps up and bites him in the butt, and unfortunatley, he has very little memory of it.
Olivia Davis has established herself as a very prominent attorney who specializes in divorce cases, usually defending professional athletes' "soon to be ex-wifes." Her career has been her focus for most of her adult life. She just hasn't had time for relationships and one bad burn from the only relationshipo she did have, has left her a bit gun shy. Now at 36, she's realized she wants a family, or a baby I should say. This to, she has determined to do on her own, which is what brought her to where she now resides.
The situation and circumstances which have brought Ben and Olivia together are not the best, but the chemistry between them is undeniable. Unfortunately, they must deny their attraction, of course, but fate seems to keep throwing them together taking them for one whirlwind of a ride. They have a lot to work through, both individually and as a couple, if they even consider making a go of it, and when the past comes back to haunt them, well.......let's just say that "someone's got a lot of splaining to do."
Maybe This Love is a fun, sweet, sexy romance which has its share of heated moments both physically, which is always hot, and emotionally, where the " hot" is brought on by heated tempers, but it all makes for a really good read. The book is the second in the series, but is easily read as a standalone, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are looking to slip into a little weekend getaway that is fun, entertaining, and has that romance that is just like the cherry on top of an icecream sundae, then you'll want to check out Maybe This Love by Jennifer Snow. ...more
I don't know if I can begin to even tell you how much I've enjoyed this series, and while I've been anxiously awaiting Midnight Target, the final bookI don't know if I can begin to even tell you how much I've enjoyed this series, and while I've been anxiously awaiting Midnight Target, the final book in the series, it is bittersweet, because this is the last one, and I really hate to see the series end. That said, Elle Kennedy ends the series with a bang. Midnight Target is Cate and Ash's story, and what a story it is. For fans of the series, you'll also be glad to know that Sully and Liam's story is also incorporated within this one, so for those of us who have been waiting for this, it is oh so awesome...and on so hot.
In Midnight Target, Cate has had it up to her eyeballs with her father, Jim Morgan, and his overprotectivness, to the point that she rarely goes home. That fact, combined with the fact that she wants nothing to do with Ash, especially after the way he acted towards her last time she saw him when she put everything right out there, and yet he crushed her heart, has kept Cate away from what she has considered her family, for quite some time. When she suddenly finds herself in the middle of some major danger, as well equipped and trained as she is to deal with that, she finds that only dear old dad and his band of merry....or I guess I should say mercs, can help her out of the fix she finds herself in. Of course, Ash, who has denied his feelings out of what he has convinced himself is repsect for her dad, is at the forefront of this mission. He's been in love with her for years, and when he finds out she's in danger, it's all he can do not to go charging in like a bull seeing red.
Of course Jim Morgan's wife, Nicole, and Cate's step-mom AKA the Queen of Assasins, along with her badass beauties end up involed as well. During the course of the novel you get to connect with all the characters in the previous books that we've come to know and love, making this last novel perfect giving you a glimpse of everyone lives and letting you see how they are all doing as the series comes to a close.
Midnight Target is filled with non-stop action, hot romance, as well as plenty of danger and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and loved how Elle Kennedy brought everything together, including an elpilogue, bringing an an epic ending to and epic series. Midnight Target is a must read for fans of the series, and if you've not started this one yet, it is definitely something you will want to carve out time for. ...more

I must admit, I was first drawn in by the title and the cover, but in addition to that, I found Weregirl to be a well-written first installment featuring a girl who becomes a werewolf and all the trials and tribulations she must endure.
Nessa is the main character in the novel. I found the story to be an entertaining and creative take on werewolves, especially the female version. Nessa faces a lot of challenges, some fun and some not so fun, in Weregirl. She is determined to leave the small town she lives in and has been working hard towards that goal by trying to earn a scholarship. The one thing she didn't count on, however, was getting bitten by a wolf and subsequetly becoming one herself. Another thing she didn't count on was the conspiracy that she finds out about related to a company in her town, what they are doing, and who they are doing this to.
There is a little romance mixed in the story and the secondary characters were intriguing as well. I do have my suspicions about Nessa's love interest in the story, so I was glad to find out the story was going to be a triology. Overall, I enjoyed Weregirl. This YA novel has a mix of danger, conspiracy, and suspense, and of course wouldn't be complete without the romantic component as well. The ending of the novel leaves you with some unanswered questions, thus setting the stage for the next installment, which I am looking forward to reading. When Sidney Fraye happens into the Sin Bin one day, Jared soon finds himself not only hiring her, but falling for her as well. Sidney has been burned in the past and that experience has kept her from getting attached to anyone again. This former player is ready to take a chance on something real, and is determined to get Sidney to do the same, willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen. The rules of the game, however, keep getting blurred as their relationship progresses, and the more they find out about each other, and about each other's pasts, they both soon realize there is much more to the other than they thought.

I enjoyed watching the relationship between Sidney and Jared progress, and the way the each fell harder for one another as they learned what made the other tick. Deadly Silence is the first book in Rebecca Zanetti's Blood Brothers Series. It is a spin-off from her Sin Brothers Series, which I haven't read yet, but believe me I will be reading it soon. Deadly Silence is romantic suspense at its best, with a little bit of Syfy mixed in. Ryker Jones is the perfect mix of danger, hotness, and pure badass. He and his brothers, Heath and Denver, have a knack for finding people, and are the best private investigators you can hire to do just that. They have a mysterious and dangerous past, one they've been running from for quite some time. However, when Zara Remington turns out to be much more than a fling for Ryker, he finds himself wanting to stay close to her. Zara is a paralegal, and when a case her firm is working on suddenly puts her in some serious danger, Ryker's protective instincts kick in and he finds himself doing anything and everything in his power to keep her safe. Meanwhile, he and his brothers find themselves facing their own past, whether they're ready to or not. The one thing Ryker never wanted though, was for his past and present (meaning Zara) to collide........
As things become even more dangerous, the answers to questions Ryker has had all his life are revealed, explaining why he and his brothers are the way they are and why they can do the things they do. During this process, there are nonstop twists and turns that will keep you turning the pages to the wee hours of the morning, not wanting to put the story down. Actually, I After reading the first book in Elle Kennedy's Outlaws series, Claimed (which was awesome by the way), I could not wait to read Addicted. Actually, I devoured Addicted and loved every minute of it. The story is set in a post-apocolyptic world where danger is every present and the only way to be free is to live the life of an outlaw. These outlaws aren't your typical outlaws, but more like rebels fighting for independence. They're badass, tough as nails, and determined to live life free from the dictatorship of the Enforcers. Living free also brings the knowledge that nothing, including life, is guaranteed, so they live life to the fullest, including in the sexual arena. Elle Kennedy definitely brings the heat in this area and it is erotic with some kink at times, so this is definitely an adult-only read.
We met both Lennox and Jamie in Claimed. They have been friends since childhood, and have stuck together, as friends, pretty much their whole life, with Lennox being determined to keep Jamie close, unwilling to cross the friendship line because he's always been afraid of losing her if that happened. Lennox is also very alpha and very, very hot, a fact which Jamie is acutely aware of. One night when Lennox has a little too much to drink, one thing leads to another and that friendship line is crossed, unleashing a passion between these two the likes of which neither has experienced.
When danger knocks at their front door and threatens everything, Lennox and Jamie have to make some very tough choices that test their resolve, what they want in life, their loyalty, and what they truly mean to each other, thus the romance that we all crave. The secondary characters were all awesome as well, some old and some new to the series, but all well-written and all contributing a lot to the story.

While both series are action-packed, feature hot alpha badasses, both male and female, the Killer Instincts Series is set in modern time, while The Outlaws series is dystopia in nature taking place in the future. Both feature hot romance, but The Outlaws Series takes it to a whole new level, making this an adults only dystopian novel that will blow your socks off. Ruled is the third book in the series, and I have enjoyed them all. These Outlaws are out to live their lives on their own terms, not controlled by the current government and the constraints it places on them. They are tough, determined, fierce, and take their pleasure when and where they can.
I loved Rylan in the previous novels, so needless to say I was really excited about him getting his own book. We've also met Reese in the previous novels, and have seen a little of Sloan as well. Rylan has had a thing for Reese for a while now, but she keeps shooting him down. Sloan and Reese's relationship is intense, but up until this point, hasn't crossed over into the physical. With Rylan on the scene things change, as does the relationship between Rylan, Sloan and Reese. That said, OMG is this ever hot.
Danger intensifies and choices have to be made, causing tension and conflict on a level that tests all of their resolve, loyalty, and love, with all kinds of hot romance in the mix. Ruled is an awesome addition to Elle Kennedy's Outlaws Series. Do keep in mind that this is a "very adult novel," not appropriate for younger readers. ...more

Shut Out actually turned out to be a really good book, having steamy romance, a hockey hottie, and a really good female lead. In addition to all of that, the books addressed some really serious subject matter that faces so many in the college-age group, and Jamieson did an excellent job in portraying that. While I liked Sylar and Jacob, I really had to push through until about the halfway point in the book, because while likable and a good story, the characters and the story didn't grab me up until that point. The last half of the book, however, was really good. The characters were much more personable in the last half, and the story itself took on that edge that keeps you turning the pages and anxious for more. That said, Shut Out is a really good read with a really great message, which makes it definitely worth checking out. ...more

Leighton's Tall, Dark, and Dangerous Series. Each book in the series is a companion novel, and can be easily read as a standalone. I've enjoyed the series very much, but each book in the series is really very different. Strong Enough, book #1 was filled with danger, suspense, murder, and was kind of downright raw and gritty. I loved it. Tough Enough, book #2 was good as well, but it was really nothing like Strong Enough. In Brave Enough, M. Leighton surprised me once again in that the third book in this series is nothing at all like the first or the second. It was a very good romance and while it is considered a contemporary romance, the language, the setting, and the dialogue kind of had the feel of a little historical romance, at least to me. Who would have thought that the sexy, dark, and dangerous former special ops guy Tag Barton, would have had that old school flare. He was quite the romantic.

Weatherly is trying to escape her father and the "arranged marriage," he wants to force her into. Tag helps her by devising a plan that will get her out it. What starts out as fake, soon becomes very real for Tag and Weatherly. Tag has secrets he hasn't shared, however, and when they are, things between them are suddenly not good at all. Tag has his work cut out for him if he is going to overcome his deceit and win Weatherly back....after all, the heart wants what the heart wants, so he pulls out all the stops.
Needless to say, all of this makes for quite the enjoyable read, and enjoy it I did. M. Leighton delivers another sexy hero in Brave Enough, one her fans will definitely enjoy getting to know. ...more

The series centThis is the third novel I've read by Jeanette Murray, all being in her First to Fight series, and I've enjoyed each of them very much. The series centers around a team of Marine Boxers who are training for a big tournament, and the women in their lives that each of the heroes fall in love with. That said, Fight to the Finish is Graham and Kara's story. Graham is lawyer, one of the teams best boxers, and a total hottie. Kara is a yoga instructor who through mutual connections ends up doing some yoga training sessions with the guys on the team. She and Graham have been crushing on each other for a while now, but Kara is a single mom with a really sweet son who has a ton of food allergies. She doesn't date, and she especially doesn't want to date a Marine, especially when falling for one would involve probably moving to a different area, probably more than once. Graham, however, is determined to get past Kara's defenses and show her that he can be a man she could have a future with. He's great with Kara's son, and as I said before, a total hottie.
I enjoyed watching the romance unfold and develop between Kara and Graham, and loved seeing the way he was with Kara's son. In addition to the romance, there is also quite a bit of suspense as the mystery unfolds regarding some vandalism that has been happening, which escalates into something much more dangerous. Another bonus is getting to see the characters from the previous two novels make an appearance in Fight to the Finish as well. Overall, Fight to the Finish is a very entertaining sports-themed romance with a bit of suspense in the mix as well. Definitely worth checking out....more
