In the Woods (Dublin Murder Squad, #1)

3.5 stars
This is the first book of this series and is the first book I have read from this author.
The plot is interesting and the story is revealed in layers.
There is a connection in an old case and a new one. The old case is of 2 missing children presumed to be dead and the 3rd one surviving [the detective is the 3rd kid] and the new case is of a murdered kid found dead in the same woods.(view spoiler) .
At first its fairly confusing but the main culprit is fairly obvious towards the end.
I love the banter between Cassie and Rob (view spoiler)
The book is a real page turner and I was awake till 4 in the morning finishing this off (view spoiler)
As per the reviews, the next books in the series is even better and I definitely am eager to read them.

“Sometimes I think about the sly, flickering line that separates being spared from being rejected. Sometimes I think of the ancient gods who demanded that their sacrifices be fearless and without blemish, and I wonder whether, whoever or whatever took Peter and Jamie away, it decided I wasn't good enough.”

“Human beings, as I know better than most, can get used to anything. Over time, even the unthinkable gradually wears a little niche for itself in your mind and becomes just something that happened.”

“He was like a huge smug albatross waddling around my desk, squawking vacuously and crapping all over my paperwork.”

Did you get a chance to catch up on any of the other books in the series?"
I have read all the books released in this series till date and I love them. If you plan to read it, I would advise reading in sequence as character introduced in a book will be the main protagonist in the other book. My favourite of the series is Broken Harbour
