Never was able to pinpoint exactly why this didn't quite worked for me beyond brilliant brief flashes & intermittent stretches; reaching the end I finally started feeling more on its wavelength... but even then it just never really gelled for me. To be clear I suspect this is more a commentary about me than the book itself, & even before finishing was acknowledging I will need to give this another go someday. It happens!

Michael Dipietro Aw, this is definitely a favorite of mine. I get not being in sync with her stream-of-consciousness or finding it annoying, but she is just so goddam funny!! I found the way she describes things and situations hilarious. My favorite chapter is the one centered on all the money borrowing in her circle of poor artist friends.

Jesse I know, I felt bad giving the rating/review I did, because I really, really wanted to like this even more than I did. Usually when I'm struggling to get on a wavelength with a text I'll set it aside & wait for another time, & I really should should have done that here, but I kept hoping I'd find it but just never did. The chapter about the money borrowing was definitely my favorite too!

I am looking forward to giving this another look in the future, & hopefully it'll click then.
